Ammie is right, all drugs are animal tested at some stage of their develpoment.

Hi, like the others say, they will have been tested on animals at some point, but regarding actually containing animal products, escitalopram and others that come in a tablet form are okay. However, if they don't work and you need to go on Prozac, or another capsular one, there is gelatine in the capsule. You can however get these in liquid form, after a bit of nagging the doctor - and maybe the pharmacy will have to order it in for you specially. Prozac syrup is THE most disgusting tasting thing ever but you do get used to it!! Good luck.

Ask your GP when you are prescribed something, they can look it up in their book for the ingredients, but as others have said all drugs are tested on animals at some stage, so none are going to be completely vegan. Try herbal remedies, but if they don't work you might have to go on something from your GP. Good luck lol

As animal testing is a legal requirement for medical drugs I doubt you could call any vegan really but I couldn't tell you about ingredients. Ask your pharmacist for a look at his copy of the BNF (British National Formulary).
