Last Christmas, grandpa was feeling his age, and found that
shopping for Christmas gifts had become too difficult. So he
decided to send a cheque to everyone instead.

In each card he wrote, "Buy your own present!" and mailed them
early.

He enjoyed the usual flurry of family festivities, and it was
only after the holiday that he noticed that he was receiving very
few cards in return. Puzzled over this, he went into his study,
intending to write a couple of his relatives and ask what had
happened. It was then, as he cleared off his cluttered desk that
he got his answer. Under a stack of papers, he was horrified to
find the gift cheques which he had forgotten to enclose with the
cards.

That can happen...
For my sister's birthday, I gave her a gift card for $25, from a local department store.. the cardboard card holder had"worth $25" written on it, and was supposed to have the plastic card enclosed. I had not noticed, but the plastic card had fallen out and was in my shirt pocket.
My sister got the cardboard card, opened it... no plastic card, just a note saying "worth $25".. she looked at me kind of funny, but didn't say anything..
Later that evening, I stuck my hand in my shirt pocket for something and I found the plastic card..
which I gave her, of course... she said she thought I was playing a joke on her..

at first I thought it was rubbish then I thought about it and thought it was funny.

so, if you think it's rubbish, think about it a bit more and you'll find it's funny.

I do hope I've helped.

God I must be bored to be rambling on like this.

at his age that's understandable. regardless to whether he forgot or not out of love and respect for him he should have been acknowledged regardless!
