Tiny Pinnochio is possibly the world's smallest dog weighing at one pound and only the size of a coke can. She had been on Oprah's show in the past and rose to stardom. However she is not alive anymore where her owner found her dead after overeating herself to death. The smallest breed would be a Chiawauh or Tea Cup Yorkie.

A chihuahua is the smallest dog in the world. I'll also chime in with the others and say there is no such thing as a "teacup" anything. Anyone that believes that needs to do their research. A normal-sized chihuahua is supposed to be 2-6lbs. You don't get smaller than 2lbs unless it's a freak of nature. So again, there is no such thing as a teacup chihuahua.

The smallest breed is a chihuahua 2-6 pounds, the smallest dog is a really tiny chihuahua.
There is no such thing as a teacup chihuahua or teacup yorkie, etc, it's just a sales term for dogs that are terribly small. If they are naturally small, that is one thing, however some unscrupulous breeders underfeed them to stunt their growth.

"Ondra", a Chihuahua who was once the record holder for "Smallest Dog in the World" (Guinness Book of World Records) was accidentally given a fatal shot of the wrong medicine by a veterinarian in Olomauc, Czech Republic last year. The injection, which was a vaccination, caused Ondra's health to deteriorate rapidly to the point that his guardian Miloslava Vasickova decided to have him put down.
Little Ondra, less that 6 inches long and weighing in at 850g (30 oz., smaller than a medium-sized Big Gulp at the 7-11), brought international fame to his home town of Trestina.

Teacup Chihuahas. Yes, there are such things. Maybe just a 'sales pitch' but some ARE definately smaller than others, and are bred that way. My inlaws have 2 teacups & 2 standards. If you see them together, you can tell them apart, but someone who things a 'dog is a dog' won't know.

If you are asking about certain breeds of dog than the Chihuahua and yorkie are some small dogs.
