Geeze some folks are pretty hostile! I see that you really want to give something that has cultural significance and there's nothing wrong with that.
When I lived in NYC, they sold bracelets that were made of beads that created the Puerto Rican flag. A lot of my friends wore them.

You can give a shirt or any other type of gift that has the Puerto Rican flag or any other reference to P.R on it. Puerto ricans are proud of their heritage and love showing it.
