I have a kitten that was abandoned when the person across the street from me moved out. I have a pit bull who will kill it if he gets a hold of it. I need to find it a good home. I'm in S FL. (I've tried the shelters & put up posters in places where I know the people before you suggest that.) Ad in the paper is out of the question, because we have a lot of cruel people here.

Please don't ask me questions if you won't accept e-mail. The no-kill shelters said they were full. The Humane Societty (to which I used to belong) doesn't want to take strays. They want you to have had it for 30 days & then they won't promise not to kill it. If you want to talk about it, I DO accept e-mail!

Hi there...consider posting ads through free online services such as Petfinder http://www.petfinder.com or your local south Florida Craigslist http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/us/fl . Both are free to list ads and use. For Craigslist choose your nearest city and state then next look for the Community section and then subsection Pets. Post your ad there.

Be sure to ask for a small adoption fee ($15-30) rather than for free. The reason is that there are people looking to collect animals to use for either research labs, as bait for dog training, or just downright terrible people who like to abuse animals. Tell prospective adopters that you'd like to do monthly home inspection for a few months to be sure the kitten isn't giving away again or mistreated poorly. People scour the ads frequently so you should be able to place the kitten fairly soon.

I would re-think the ad in the paper. You can screen the people who call, and choose who you want to give Kitty to. If you don't think someone will be a good home, tell them you've already given it away or have changed your mind.

I have 3 large dogs that will kill cats if they get ahold of one outside. But when they are inside (with me present) they are okay with the cats.

I work at an animal shelter. Yes we do have to put some down. But the younger the kitty is, the better chance it has of getting adopted. So please don't wait too long if this is what you'll end up having to do. Good luck.

Ok, you were terribly irresponsible and didn't get your cat spayed. Now, you'll double that irresponsible act and give intact kittens away. You need to s/n them and s/n your cat. If you are not willing to do that, and I'll assume you won't, then at least take the kittens to your SPCA or Humane Society. They will probably charge you a small fee to take the kittens, but they WILL s/n them before placing them. They also screen the people adopting them and charge them a fee. They will do a much better job than you finding them good homes.

What do you mean you've "tried" the shelters? You just take the stray cat in and leave it, nothing to "try." Kittens are always easy to adopt out.

If for some reason you want to adopt it out yourself instead of letting the SPCA or whoever do it, your local Petsmart or other pet store should have a bulletin board for flyers such as that. There's also craigslist.

If there isn't a Petsmart around, try contacting someone at the Last Chance Rescue (the rescue for dogs and cats that Petsmart works with). Most of the time they will take the cat, or ask you to foster it until its adopted out. As far as I know, Last Chance is no-kill.

do you have a petsmart store in the area or another pet store in the area? explain the situation and they will take the kitty and place it up for adoption. i am in the apartment industry and have had people move out and leave their pets behind (sorry a s s people). and they took them, in fact i myself have kept some cats and wouldn't give them up for the world. good luck and bless you for wanting to find a home for this ball of fur.

Instead of putting up signs, try going around the neighborhood to worthy people. Espicially go to neighbors who have seen and complimented it before.

Keep it locked up securely away from your pitbull!

Get rid of the pitbull and keep the kitten. The kitten will never turn on you and honestly try to kill you or a loved one.

i know this sounds harsh but if you cant find a good home for them then don't give them away, put them to sleep. its a humane way. i know it would be my last resort but its better than taking a chance on them being unhappy there whole life or dying in an awful way. if you do decide to put them asleep make sure its your last choice. try giving them to a vets office they will find good homes for them or try the pet stores!
