I am in 10th grade and i am doing a project to model Solar Energy, but i am clueless what it is and as to what to do. can someone help me out in simple words lol. thank u!:)

Solar energy is energy from the sun it can be used to heats chemical rods inside solar conductors the heat from the rods can make energy which can be used to heat our homes and give electrical power to our homes. hope that helped a litttle.

Well, very simple solar energy is: you put, say, a tank of water on your roof, painted black to absorb more solar heat, and let the sun warm it up. That's what my host family had in Mexico--they had a regular water heater for when it was too cold to use the rooftop model, but in the summer, when it was plenty hot, they used that for showers and stuff.

More complex solar energy uses panels (some kind of electricity-generating coating on them--I don't know how they work) and the electricity they generate goes into batteries or is used later. You can use them for, say, a lightbulb if you have a little panel, or if you have a bunch and plenty of sunshine, you can run your whole house on it. The batteries help if you don't have constant sunshine--you can store electricity for later (I guess they're like car batteries. Maybe they are car batteries.)

Oh, if you mean what comes out of the sun--it's a fusion reaction (hydrogen is formed into helium) and it releases a bunch of heat and light. The "rays" are beams of radiation. Not like "nuclear radiation" from fission, which is what powers your average nuclear power plant or missile. Fusion on earth is pretty limited at this point--the sun is huge and very hot and it's easy to do fusion there, but we're doing good if we can get, like, two atoms to fuse. Pretty lame.

Which is why the sun is handy.

yay! finally an easy question! i know the exact definition! solar energy is energy we get from the sun. they call it "solar" energy because "sol" means sun. so basically it mean sun energy which is energy we get from the sun. without the sun, we would not have solar energy! am still learning that in school! =) good luck on your project!
