I still snap my head back when a plane is flying nearby. I still have the fear of them crashing into my house. I lived in Rockaway NY on 9-11 and two months later a plane crashed there less than a mile from me.

How long will it take to get over it? I recently saw something on TV about it and I begin sobbing. I was in the financial field and knew of people that died, client's of ours died, one of our interns who left for Morgan Stanley almost died. I moved to another state to get away from the panic and stress of it, yet here it is.

I am living in a new state over three years. When will my terror end. The people who died, their terror ended on 9-11. This war is going nowhere and doing nothing about 9-11. When does this terror end?

It's something that I think of every time a plane flies overhead. Not only do I think of it, I flinch-like it's happening again. It's over five years. I know my fears are irrational, but will I ever get over it?

It sounds like you may be experiencing PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) symptoms. I'd recommend seeing a psychiatrist who can treat it, and definitely getting some counseling, as well.

P.S. Ninjalectual, don't be such a butthole. Someday life is going to humble /you/.

well, think about the other wars that hav happened in the past, even tho they arent the same people also dies, and their have been other plane crashes in the past

so have people gotten over them, there is a holidays to remind us of vetereans and that keeps it fresh in our mind, and be for 9-11 happned there have been plane chrashes, have those families gotten over them

well no, but it can be the subject that everybody knows is possible to talk about, but they choose not to if they dont have to. past wars, like ww1 and ww2 are part of the school curriculum people dont want us to forget about anyway of it, but i dont think u will be this affraid of planes and news stories as time goes by, yes it has been 5 years, but only 5 years past wars are older then this 1, even tho some went on for less time.

Just be grateful you were not directly involved like some of the family members were of the deceased.

Just put your mind at ease, because if the Terrorist get to us again they will do it slowly so we are not aware they are doing it or the will do it quickly. But planes are pretty much out of the picture like before. That is where our Government has focused all their attention.

So, when you see a plane in the sky feel better knowing that the Government has protected you from that part of Terrorism. Just worry about the other ways they will try to get to us.

My deepest sympathy to anyone who was in any way hurt by 9/11. Try to be strong. Dont let those bastards ruin your life. Perhaps visit the site one more time, and then just move on.

A certainty is, as long as you wish for it to have happened in a way other than it did, you will think about it.
Therefore, the only cure is to accept what happened, let that go.

Oh, grow up. FACT: innocent people die every day. Your irrational fears are your problem, and they are maladaptive. Get over it. Or don't, I don't care. It's your life that you're making harder than it needs to be.

You should get some help or go to counseling. maybe it would help talking to someone who actuallly had a loved one die on September 11th.
