I agree with buying healthy human food, like chicken (boiled) and such, and giving it to the doggie. =)

No. Food stamps are for food for people, not pets. Let the dog get a job if he wants to eat.

I agree with the folks who are questioning why you have a dog when you can't afford food for yourself. HOWEVER, perhaps you have run upon hard times post getting your dog. In that case, go to your local food bank as they often receive donations of pet food.
I wish you the best if this is just a temporary set back. If it isn't, I strongly recommend you look at options for your dog so that it can receive the proper care it needs. There is no reason why you should let it suffer if you cannot afford food for it.

No, but there are several agencies out there that can help you, you just have to ask around, start with the humane society. If the dog is a seeing eye dog contact the agency you received the dog from and they may be able to help you. You can also try putting ads in Petsmart, etc., let people know that you are going through a difficult time and ask for donations. There are a lot of pet lovers out there that don't won't your dog/cat to suffer because you are going through a rough time. Good Luck.

Having worked in a grocery store I can tell you the answer is no but some people have bought lunchmeats from the deli with foodstamps and used it as dogfood. Ticks me off to be honest, they spend $5-$6 a pound on dog food with food stamps, stupid dog eats better than I do :(

You can only buy "people" food with food stamps. Most grocery stores have a computer system that automatically does not count items that are not permitted on food stamps.

I seriously doubt it. I also agree with those that said if you need food stamps, you probably aren't in a situation to take care of an animal. Furthermore, you should not abuse the food stamps such as selling them or buying people food to feed your dog. You are getting goverment subsides (that we hard working tax payers are covering) to feed you and your family and help get you back on your feet.

No but you can always buy healthy human food and feed it to the dog... or you can sell your food stamps to someone you know for 5 to 10 dollars less for cash and then buy dog food. ;-)
ie. you sell 20 dollars in food stamps and get back 10 or 15 dollars in cash....
