What I wonder is why does any man think that they are qualified to judge a womans decision to terminate a pregnancy.

When it is possible for you to be impregnated as a result of a brutal rape, then you may have a right to comment. Otherwise it is not the business of anyone else besides the woman involved.

I am sorry Paul. It is hard enough to take the accusation of murder from another woman, but from a man it is unbearable.

i cant add any more than what you already said....
it is no ones buisness in any way ... and no one knows the reasons behind the difficult decision except the one making it

my mother had an abortion as a result of a brutal rape in front of me and my sister ... we all had to run for our lives
and my mother made the ONLY decision she could make
much love to you xx

I agree with you about it being the business of the woman involved, but I don't agree with you that the gender of other people makes any difference.

When you express this kind of disapproval of men judging a woman's decision to terminate a pregnancy, you suggest that you think it's okay for another woman to judge that woman's decision. Why would that be the case? Would you also say that a woman who can bear children has more right to make judgments about abortion than a barren woman? Or that having your uterus removed also removes your right to judge other women who are considering abortion?

I wish that the prochoice movement had never gotten this particular bug in their craw. Some people want this to be about men forcing women to carry their pregnancies full-term, but in fact the anti-abortion rights movement is not driven by men, or by men's desire to subjugate women. That's a red herring, and a dangerous one: do you really want to take men out of the picture and be left with other women judging your right to an abortion? If you think they'll be more reasonable about it, you're not paying attention to the debate.

I believe that I do not have the right to judge a woman with respect to her choice about whether or not to have an abortion, but I wouldn't have any more right to do that if I were female. It's simply wrong.

This argument is commonly brought up, but less than 1% of abortions today were from pregnancies caused by forced sex. (rape, incest, etc.) The vast majority of abortions have been from times when contraception just wasn't used.

Also, this logic is vastly flawed. Does this mean I can't say someone who has murdered a husband or wife has done something wrong because I have never been in an unhappy marriage? I can't say it is wrong to steel a car because I can afford to own a car I have rightfully purchased?

Yes, you can call something right or wrong even if you are not in that particular situation!

Abortion is wrong because it takes a human life! Abortion esteems personal choice as most important, even at the expense of life. Imagine if other choices were elevated to this level. Imagine if one's own desires was the key factor to determine if others live or die.

In some ways this already happens in areas where there are high murder rates. One chooses to elevate his own desire above the life of anyone who would get in his way. How is abortion any different?

I agree completely, unless........................The father is willing to take custody of the child, and able to care completely for them. Of course, talking about rape, the "father" should have no say. And, when the mother's life could be in danger, no say as well. But, you see, this is so hard. A woman can say she was raped when she wasn't. A man can say he will be there, then turn away. I'm kinda torn on this one. I don't really think anyone should tell me what to do with my body, but I have heard of women using abortion as a form of revenge. So, I guess it's like anything else, some people will use it properly, and some will abuse it. I guess in the end it really depends on the situation. However, if you are talking about men who say, "abortion is murder, let's outlaw it", then yeah, I agree.

I think .......When men grow a uterus then they will have the RIGHT to tell a woman what to do about any type of pregnancy . In the meantime they have to be quiet about it. I personally would never have an abortion but then again I made sure I would never have to deal with that when I had my last child . But I makes the hair on the back of my neck stand when I hear MEN talking about our rights (as women) possibly being taken away from us.

I do think the opinion of the father counts, but not if the woman was assaulted or if her life is at stake.

And if, as I have heard some men on this forum claim, the father TRULY wants the woman to carry the child to term so that he can retain sole custody, he needs to sign papers to that effect so he is legally bound not to back out the first time the baby has the flu and he's a single parent cleaning up poop from one end and puke from the other, and if he insists that she carry the child to term whether she wants to or not he is not entitled to child support.

well until you can understand why a person goes on a homicidal rampage, don't judge them either. you are saying that unless a person can sympathize with your desire to kill, don't comment on whether or not you should kill. i am not anti-abortion as a means of saving life that would end due to carrying to term. i know people who have had to abort because of health concerns for both the mother and the child. however, if you are using it for birth control then it is abominable. to me.

if you don't want a loaf of bread, quit putting the dough in the oven... in fact, why not just get rid of the oven?

the point is this, just because it's your body doesn't mean you stand above judgment of your peers and fellow citizens. otherwise, shouldn't suicide be legal? finally, why do you think it's ok to kill your child while it is still yet unborn, but not ok to kill him when he's 12?

Pregnancy after rape is the cause of less then 1% of abortions, so I will not argue regarding that.
Since the female is the one who will be going through the birthing process, I find the girl to be held more liable in this situation. The female has the responsibility to protect herself, whether it be abstinence or using contraceptives. If the contraceptives fail, which is a well known risk that should be considered before having sex, or if no protection is used and the female gets pregnant, it is the persons fault. Aborting the baby because you don't want to deal with the consequences of your actions is murder and it is wrong. There is no other way to describe it. If someone feels that they are responsible enough to have sex, they need to be prepared for the possibility that they might get pregnant. I have no respect for someone who kills their own baby. I do, however, have a ton of respect for men and women who do get themselves into this situation and choose to step up to the plate either by becoming good parents or giving the child up for adoption.

I absolutely believe that a man has a right to a say in what happens to his own child, but not to force an abortion. As for judging anyone else, well, no woman has the right to judge another woman for her choice regarding abortion, either. No one is in that woman's situation but that one woman.

I think that "it's my body" argument is crap, though. You made the decision that you are willing to carry a child in your womb when you chose to have sex. If you are not willing to do that, then you shouldn't have sex. Period.

However, I still support abortion. Just don't use that lame argument.

two wrongs don't make a right, but I'm not going to tell you not to do it. We have the ability to cut and make bleed just about any creature on earth. Why not use that technology to the fullest? Good thing it happens when you are unconscious, because if you knew what went on, it's violation #3. But who am I to say? If you were brutally raped, or even raped because of war/rape camps, and then imprisoned and forced to carry the child you abhor...Because it reminds you of that brutality, what could be worse? It's like "cut out my brain, I no longerwant to live" I wouldn't blame you if you offed yourself either. Men are pigs.
