Everyone says, "you cant hunt with it, its only meant for killing people!" Is it possible for people to buy a damn gun for the enjoyment of shooting it at targets?

Because its about cosmetics. It could be the greatest rifle in world but because it looks different or has been misused it has a profile that many see as a bad thing. Its a machine people! Machines do what the operator tells it to. Like any machine it can be misused. Tell me when was the last time you watched a newscast or TV show where any firearm was shown in a positive way. AK-47 has become a generic designation for any firearm that looks like the true AK-47 even if said AK is a semi-automatic(not full auto) weapon. It is illegal to hunt with a AK-47 capable of fully automatic fire to the best of my knowledge though

Well its true you can't hunt with an AK 47 in the fully automatic stage. It is prohibited in Canada. As for if its semi automatic I'm not sure its long enough to be non restricted.

Personally I wouldn't want to hunt with it because its not accurate enough for me.

And yes it is possible to own it just for the pleasure of shooting one. Personally I don't know if I'd own one due to its restrictions and practicality. But on the other hand it looks so sweet to shoot and just pump off 100 rounds in moments.

Now the reason people are appalled by the ownership of an AK 47 would probably be for the fact that it is portrayed negitively in all movies, as the bad guys carry AK 47's and the good guys don't Its just like disney portays hunters as evil people in the movie Bambi. What people have to do is look past the stereotypes hollywood and other media outlets have done to portray AK 47's.

Hope that helps

What scares me is the fact that the people asking about them are calling them Ak-47's. Ak-47's are very rare and valuable. Akm's are what is commonly imported for sale and are nothing more than a semi auto rifle chambered for 7.62x39. My point being if you dont know the name of the gun, you probably shouldn't have one, or any fireams for that matter. Oh well the asker is probably just a 13year old that plays to much playstation.

I live in Canada, I own several guns, I own pistols. I think owning the Semi Auto AK would be awesome, I've got an SKS which is super fun to burn through ammo with. If I had the cash, i would pick up the legal version of the AK.

I have a Chinese MAK90, which is a semi-automatic carbine based on the AK-47 action.

There are actually very, very few AK-47s in the US. An AK-47 is a fully automatic carbine. There are many SEMI-auto AK clones available in the US, most made in former Communist countries.

People don't like to face the truth about our human race.

They do not study or understand our history and they live in a fantasy world where all men are good and peaceful and the police protect us all.

If you do look at human history with clear eyes and an open mind, you will see that for 99% of the time man has been "civilized", life for most people was hard, short and brutal.

95% of all men and women were enslaved by the 5% who were in power....power made possible by armed men.

Today even, most residents of our planet live lives of subservience to others because they are not free.

In most "Western" democracies, the citizenry has recently given up their ritghts to own firearms........in fact put all their rights and freedoms and protection into the hands of their governments.

How soon before we see one of these governments, with now an unarmed population, start to take control...to take freedoms and rights from people? Well, it's already happened.

Soon after the Communists took over in Russia with the help of the armed Russian peasant, they disarmed the very same peasants and became a brutal dictatorship that killed tens of millions of unarmed Russians in their struggle to keep power.

Nazi Germany: One of the first acts of the Nazis was to disarm everyone but the Nazis. Look what happened to that democratic country.

Mexico. The Mexican peasants have risen up and overthrown their oppresors several times now. Against Spain, against European princes, against wealthy Mexican dictators. The current government is one of the most corrupt and inept in the world, squandering their wealth and leaving the average Mexican in hopeless poverty.....but they have one thing that keeps them in control.......Mexican peasants can't own AK-47s, so no matter how bad and evil the government is, there's nothing they can do about it.

Recently, folks in the UK and Austrailia and Canada gave up their rights to own firearms....all in a big effort to control crime (people don't NEED to have guns!). I pray for my friends in these countries.....however they have given up the "keys" to their own freedom.

What a collection of ignorant nimrods. No, you do no longer would desire to have a militia connection to possess an AK. you will desire to purchase a semi-motor vehicle AK everywhere; on line, pawn shops, gun shops, gun shows, deepest sales, or build your guy or woman, it is not troublesome. In all unfastened states, AKs are dealt with like another semi-motor vehicle rifle, have as many as you like, no helps required. In communist states which includes California or Jew York, AKs are banned or critically limited. to possess an entire-motor vehicle AK, you will first would desire to discover one you may arise with the money for. Be arranged to pony up the equivalent fee of a sparkling automobile for it, new complete motor vehicle rifles are prohibited to civilians and the transferable rifles grandfathered in command a hefty top rate. then you particularly'll wade by a historic past verify, acquire a demonstration-off out of your community police chief, pay a $2 hundred tax stamp, and await BATFE approval, and you may %. up your rifle. complete-motor vehicle rifles are difficulty to extra stringent rules than semi-motor vehicle, yet there is not any bar to possession, besides the actuality that many community jurisdictions frown on them. verify your community rules. or you may make your guy or woman. Be cautioned, making your guy or woman complete-motor vehicle AK is unlawful attributable to the illegally extra Hughes modification to the Firearm proprietors risk-free practices Act of 1986. you may no longer sign in an entire-motor vehicle rifle you build, and the FOPA prevents you from having an unregistered NFA (national Firearms Act) complete-motor vehicle weapon. Getting caught with an unregistered NFA weapon will win you a 10 3 hundred and sixty 5 days trip at club Fed, with an excellent of one / 4 million money to pay for it. So don't get caught.

It's one of the, if not the, most massively produced firearm in history. The Ak47 (fully automatic rifle chambered in 7.62x39mm manufactured in Russia) and most of its variants are very easy to maintain, very easy to clean, and extremely reliable. I own a Norinco Mak90 (Chinese made semi-auto version of the Ak47) and its been EXTREMELY reliable, i've shot many cases of ammo through it with very few fail to fires/ejects/loads. Gun's are alot like pitbulls, they recieve tons of negative media coverage and thus the general populus whom are ignorant will believe the ignorant bias they hear. If I was going to choose between "assault rifles" and hunting rifles, i'd probably go with a hunting rifle. Hunting rifles are typically much more powerful and accurate than "assault rifles". I'd rather take my Marlin 1895 .45-70 guide gun than an Ak47 or M16.

To clarify, Ak47's are quite rare in the US. Citizens CAN OWN THEM, but because they are full auto and usually cost atleast $15,000, its rare that a citizen will own one. The Ak47's semi-auto counterparts like the Norinco Mak90, Wasr-10, or the AMD 65 are much more common.

Here in California someone running for attorney general was criticized by police unions that this guy endorsed private ownership of 50 cal sniper rifles (not true in this case).

The people giving us grief in this area are the same people that would prevent private ownership of ANY guns. They don't care about the tiny details -- like no police officer in the U.S. has EVER been killed by such a weapon. It would make more sense for them to complain about Toyotas.
