I am glad so many people feel they are experts at knowing what type of anesthetics are available for tattooing.

The fact is, there are several that can be used. We use products from dermalsource.com

We don't find the pre-deadeners valuable but like the blue gel on broken skin when the endorphins have pretty much done their job and we are wanting to finish up and the clients need some help getting through it.

Many shops won't use them because they don't know how to apply it correctly and they don't get good results or they don't want to spend the money - it is not cheap. Contrary to opinion, when used correctly it does NOT prevent ink from staying.

The level of active ingredients are within the OTC strength requirements.

There is no anesthetic available in a tattoo shop. You must be a licensed doctor to administer anesthetic.

Tolerances for pain vary from person to person. In some situations certain individuals may have a higher pain threshold than others. Generally the average person will experience some level of discomfort. Each spot feels a little bit different, and yes, some spots are a little more tender, but we encourage you to get your tattoo where you really want it. It only hurts for a little while, it will be there forever.

yes you can they have a cream that the tattoo artist can apply to your skin before doing the tattoo. Ask at the tattoo shop if they have it available.

Yes. Its a prescription cream that they use. It is applied 30 mins before tattooing. It however will cost you around $30-$75 dollars more. But really if you are that scared do you really think you should get one?

It will go numb while they are doing it. Being so nervous will make it hurt more intially, just chill out and go with it. They will give you some money back if you chicken out.

Yeah, the dude that tattoed me, had the cream there. He kept having to re apply it about every hour, but it really helped.

ONLY PASSED OUT ONCE!

hahaha

and as the girl said above, the skin will numb itself. it'll tickle at times, then hurt like a beeyotch, and sometimes you wont even feel it.

"I'm terrified of having this Tattoo, and the pain."

If that's the case, maybe you need to rethink having it done. It sounds like you're not positive you want to go through with it. Wait until you are, and then get it done. Don't rush into things and regret it later.

WHAT??? Trust me.. you adjust to the pain, and it's actually a good pain!! If you feel like you need to numb your skin than you might not want to go get a tattoo...

listen without listening to the blonde that said her guy reaplied it every hour, in her dreams.
just remember if your that scared get it some place wher you have more fat or even where you can't see. the one on the back of my neck hurt but i couldn't watch so it went by pretty quick but the one on my boob didn't hurt at all. But more importantly than that you need to remember to find a artist that you trust they will be the one to ease you through it!!

there is nothing you can take or do to take the pain away. if you aren't willing to sit thru the pain maybe you shouldn't get a tattoo? the pain comes with the ink. good luck.
