what are the black dots around my cats mouth and on his nose?

the dots gradualy appear as he gets older. When he was a baby there were none. My opinion is that they are like freckles for a cat.

Is your cat a orange cat? The orange color is not a naturally occuring color, it's derived from black. So as your cat ages, the black color starts coming out. Look closely at the fur and you'll see little black hairs all over. I have 4 orange cats and as they get older they get "freckles" on thier nose and mouth. One even has black whisker.

It could be a few things... if they're on the skin, it could be pimples (yes, cats get them too) or just smudges of dirt on the fur. I'd suggest asking your vet the next time you go in.

If it's pimples, you'll probably want to get some metallic or ceramic bowls if you're using plastic ones. And be sure to wash them out often. :)

My orange cat has these black dots on his lips.. The vet has seen them and has said nothing about them.. I wouldn't worry about it.

Make sure he doesn't have fleas. The dots could be flea dirt, check with the vet.

if the dots have gone bigger, it could be skin cancer or something else

i only say skin cancer because a vet should check it out
