Did you know that hospitals, as we know them today, were first established by early Muslims. They offered the best available medical service at that time and cared for all people free of charge. Muslims are honour-bound to provide treatment for the sick, whoever they may be.

The first organised hospital was built in Cairo in 872CE. The Ahmad ibn Tûlûn Hospital treated and gave free medicine to all patients. It provided separate bath houses for men and women, a rich library and a section for the insane.

Patients deposited their street clothes with the hospital authorities for safe keeping, before donning special ward clothes and being assigned to their beds. Each patient would also have his or her own medical record.

Hospitals like these flourished as Muslim rulers competed to see who could construct the most dvanced centres. They spread all over the Muslim world reaching Sicily and North Africa. The earliest Muslim hospitals were funded by charitable religious endowments, called waqf, and some money from the state coffers was also used to maintain some hospitals.

I have heard of this.

All the Muslim accomplishments------but how do you get thru the hate and bigotry to get people to understand?

I am not a Muslim-but, I find it a fascinating history. The Moors of Spain was about the greatest time ever for people-all people. Muslims, Jews, and Christians. Too bad it had to end.

You know what a muslim said about your world. Pakistani President Pervez Musharra: "Today we are the poorest, the most illiterate, the most backward, the most unhealthy, the most un-enlightened, the most deprived, and the weakest of all the human race"

Yeah anybody who tries to enlightened his people is a puppet. So those who support terrorist and block western style education are not puppets. Muslims in Pakistan were protesting the introduction of DNA as evidence in rape cases. Since it goes against shaira law. I guess thats a plot of the west to make the Muslims suffer.

PS: Any contribution that the Muslims world has given us is despite Islam not thanks to it.

Good question. Nice to know such enlightened Muslim beginnings are still being adhered to in Muslim nations today.

It is true that milsums were premier in many disciplines . Mathematics , medicine ,astronomy , music , architecture and other fields as well . Why did you fall so low as you now are ? It is because you let yourselves be caught up in fundamentalism > I would love to welcome you into the 21st century.

Yes, I did know this. Muslims, specifically arab muslims invented the number system that we use in most countries today. They are called "arabic numerals." I believe the decimal system was also developed by muslims.

Arabs invented numbers and number theories. Al Kharismi invented the quadratic equation. What have you done lately, that is what counts.
