Hi,

I have a 4 month old boy who I have had for about 6 weeks now and have now got a 7 week old girl who I have had for 24 hours, Tyson (4 Month old boy) is really playful and keeps trying to play with the new kitten however Sophie will not have any of it, she is not interested in playing with him and hisses at him which I think is frustrating him even more, what can I do to get them to get on, I am supervising them very closely and do not leave them alone, when Tyson is not over excited he sits near Sophie and even helps to groom her which she hates! Does this mean they will never get on? I have never had any kittens before so any help/advice would be great.

Just give them a month and they'll be inseparable.

I currently have 19 cats that live in the same house, 13 of my own, the youngest a year and a half, 4 of my Mother's as she just passed at the end of April, the oldest in that group turned 21 years in Oct., and 2 new kittens about 2 months old that were found in a warehouse where I work. The kittens hissed at almost everyone when I first brought them home one of them at me, the heart of a little warrior, this one I can now not sit without it in my lap. They have to do very little of their own grooming because almost every cat including the males gives them a couple of swipes when they get in range. Give them time. When you sit put both of them in your lap or next to you and pet them together. When they are with you they are not to hiss or bat at each other, this can usually be accomplished just by laying a hand on them and petting. They will work the rest out for themselves. They are young enough that they'll be fast friends soon. Good Luck and enjoy.

They're only little so they will probably grow to like each other, or at least tolerate each other. You are lucky to have them as kittens, I have had several experiences with trying to get a new adult cat to fit into the family with other cats we already had, with mixed results. Sometimes it can be quite a war! The two I have now tolerate each other most of the time, at least they aren't fighting, I'm thankful for that!

HI!!!! Well you have kind of the same problem as me but yet different......... here is just one thing I want to let you know, you can never really force a cat to like another...my cats never got along and now one of my cats is in mississippi living with my grandmother, just give them time and if they sdon't work out try to keep them far away from each other. It is hard to predict just what cats will do so....GOOD LUCK!!!! :)

Give them time to get used to each other--my two were the same way when I brought the new one home, and now they play together all the time

My male kitten is the same way with his sisters (who aren't mine). He grooms them, tackles them, etc...and all they do is hiss. I dont think it means they dont get along...because I do think that our kitten is fond of his siblings, and they probably like him too.
