For me, not getting a headache sometime during my day is out of the norm.

I've heard that it could be because I'm not getting enough fluids, but I drink a lot of liquid. Today I've had probably at least five glasses of liquid, but I have a headache right now.
I've heard that it could be because I'm not getting enough sodium, but that always sounded pretty unlikely as I eat a meal with some salt in it at least once a day.
I've heard that it could be stress related, but I'm hardly ever stressed.

I've talked to a doctor about it before, but they pretty much just brushed it off. It's a dull throbbing, usually in the back of my head, extending deep down. I've had these headaches for at least a year now, but they're not so painful that I can't bear them. I'd just like to know why I'm getting them.

Any suggestions beyond saying that I should just pop a couple of ibuprofen would be greatly appreciated. :)

There are a number of reasons. You might want to change doctors if your doctor brushes off a chronic problem like this.
You might not be getting enough sleep, you might be dehydrated or hungry. You said you drink a lot of liquid, but if it isn't water, try drinking more of it.

One more thing I forgot to add:
Do you wear glasses or contacts? Your eyesight may have gotten worse and the glasses and contacts might be straining your eyes, causing headaches. You might also get headaches if you need glasses.

You may be keeping your head in a certain position too often, and exercise and yoga might help unkink that.

It could be hormonal. I had a lot of headaches until I reached menopause and then they completely disappeared. That was at least one good thing thing about going through menopause.

hmm...see a different doctor. the worst thing possible would be a tumor, but you would probably know by now. you could get a cat scan just to be safe.

that happened to me, because i was stressed. fish oir really helps, and essential oils. so do massages, because i got headaces from tense muscles.

Try going to a chiropractor. If your vertebrae is sublaxated it will give you head aches. It is the only thing that has worked for me.
