You can put your puppy on adult food at about 1 year, but make the change gradually. First time, use about 80% puppy food and 20% adult food, and gradually increase the adult food and decrease the puppy food over a week or two so as not to upset your puppy's stomach.

Well at about 9 months a puppy becomes a dog but the change of food can be hard so at 9 months mix the two dog foods with and equal amount of both then at 10 months add more normal than puppy food and a 11 months switch too normal and remember to pick the best kind for your dog because he will need the nutrition.

Best of luck,

It's impossible to say whether this is an issue with allergies. Some of the symptoms sound like they might be. Some sound like something else entirely. For example. the head shaking sounds like it might be an ear mite or an ear infection. Both of those possibilities require a vet. An infection, especially, can become very serious. As to the food--the brands you are feeding are not healthy and I don't think that the switch you made would address an allergy issue anyway. You need to give your dog a grain free diet if allergies are the issue. Grocery store brands are loaded with grain because it's much cheaper. You will not find a grain free food any place other than a good pet store or your vet. And grain free is the only way to address food allergies.

Start now. Mix 3/4 of puppy chow to 1/4 dog chow and increase dog chow slowly over about 2 months.

Normally you will want to change them over to adult dog food at a year old. Do follow the guidelines for gradually switching from one food to another. If your lab is used for hunting or is very active then you may want to consider keeping him on puppy food a while longer because the puppy formula will have more calories which he will need.

I would say any time now. As stated above do not just change all at once. Myself, I never gave my puppies puppy food. Started from day one with adult food along with table scraps. Also, only feed my dog once a day. 75 pound lab/rottie mix and he get 2 cups in the morning and dinner left overs in the evening. Use to have a black lab with senitive stomach and if switch her food at all she would get very sick. If this happens you need to boil up some rice and ground beef. This is good for their stomach and mix with her normal food and slowing wein her back to normal food.

Vets usually recommend to change their food at about 1 year and to do this slowly over a week's time--otherwise you will hurt their bellys! Start out mixing a tiny bit of the new into the old and eventually adding more and more each day until you are at a full bowl of the new food. If you notice any gastric issues then level it off and do it even slower--sometimes they just need more time to adjust and a week is not enough. Good luck!

At age 1 year. When you do switch do it gradually (mix puppy with adult for a while and slowly start adding more adult then puppy until you eventually use no puppy food at all) so you do not upset your puppy's stomach and cause diarrhea.

Eveeybodys going to give you a different answer although a lot of people seem to be saying 1 year. I would recommend reading the info on the packet of your dogs food, cos that is generally as reliable as a vets advice.

you puppy is a puppy until he reaches 2 years of age.
if you think he is not satisfied just with the puppy food, give him 1/2 can of pedigree can puppy food mixed in with his dry food, twice daily.
