I've had success with the high protein/low carb diet.....limit your carbohydrate intake to 2 servings a meal. (A serving of a carb is 15 mg). You can still have the breads and sugars just make sure how much you are eating.

If possible eat no carbs at breakfast...stick with all protein. Then just watch how many carbs you consume the rest of the day. It has worked really well for me.

An easy, simple diet to follow is the No S diet. Really don't think of it as a diet, (to many Diet is a bad word) think of it more as a guide to healthier eating. It helped me out a lot.

No Snacks
No Sweets
No Seconds
EXCEPT (Sometimes) on S days, Saturday, Sunday and Special Days (Birthdays, Holidays, ect.)

Thats it! No Calorie counting, No Carb configuring, No Special Foods to Buy, No Pills, No Shakes and No Feeling Guilty because an sweet treat (on an S Day of course).

Simply put this Diet is a Simple Habit forming Idea that works.

And One helpful hint from me is to go at it slow if you need to. The hardest part about the diet is starting it. So what I found to help get me jump started is spend a couple weeks building up to the diet. Week 1 lay off of the Snacks, and in Week 2 work on getting away from sweets and when I'm ready cut out Seconds.

Hope this helps

Eliminate all diet foods. Stick to Veggies around the clock. Eat no meats except Fish and Chicken. Nothing that is fried. Avoid fast foods. Cut down on sodas. Drink more water than anything else you consume during the day. Its not complicated, but it does take some will power not to eat things you know are loaded with fats and calories. Try the Veggie/Chicken/Fish diet for one week. See how well you do.

i know its hard because I like to eat alot and have a slow metabolism. the way i keep my girlish figure is through willpower. basically you must cut down your meal portions to a small size. Remember your stomach is the size of your fist and thats how much you should put in each meal. Next snack Alot. Eat some raw vegetables or other light lowfat snacks such as fruit or yogurt. Also you need to drinks LOTS of water. Water helps keep your stomach full and also helps your body function better and metabolism speed up some. Lastly, and i know you didnt ask for excercise help but you Have to excercise daily. A good diet without excercise is like a car without tires. Take a walk each day, even if you dont have the time walk instead of driving if you can and climb stairs instead of elevator. Do situps when at home, just get as active as possible. Basically just cut down on the grease, and the size of your meals (also cutting down on breads, carbs will help) and you will see results.

All diets tend to be simple - following them, or sticking to the plan is often the hard part.

I have helped 50 + people get in the shape of their lives and each person had a different view of what they thought was healthy. I am always amazed at the level of understanding that people have about their own health. This 'health' education is the first obstacle to get over before we can become healthy. Sure, exercise will help you lose weight, but if you are eating junk, then you will never be in great shape. One good read about health / diet / fitness to get you started is this ebook here

Cut out all processed foods, and those that you do eat (like bread), eat whole grains. Eat six small meals a day instead of three large ones, drink only water and drink it as much as you can so that you don't feel hungry all the time, prepare all food for yourself so that you know exactly what you are getting, and find something like mini chocolate bars or low fat cookies which you enjoy and have a reasonable serving of them in the middle of the day when you still have time to burn off calories so that you don't feel totally deprived. Also excercise for at least 30 minutes a day, even it's it's just walking.

Substitution works well. It's not really a diet plan, but a way of thinking. For example, if you like sweets, switch from sugary things to fresh fruit. If you are a snacker, snack on healthy things like fresh veggies. What it takes it thinking about what you put in your mouth before putting something in it. Good luck.
