As a nipper, I had to put out a small glass of whiskey for Santa, and two mince pies by the big fireplace, and my dad always left one half mince pie and an empty glass for me to discover in the morning, along with three wet footprints. out of the fireplace on the old rug.
I finally twigged on at eight, I had had a moment of doubt at 6, due to my git of a brother, but dad had got some elephant pooh from Paignton Zoo, and put some lines in the snow (first time it had snowed on Christmas for years 1970) and a lot of hoof prints (it was next doors Old English Sheep Dog) and eight piles of enormous sh1t.
Well it kept me good for two years, but I figured that the one present that ended up in my room, would come down the small chimney, so put a huge book above my door.
I woke up at 11 o clock to the sound of my father calling me a little bugger, amongst other things, as he hopped back down the stairs, and I then knew that Santa was my Dad.

I never believed in Santa cos I grew up in an unconventional household and I don't think my parents even knew who Santa was. I am still mildly surprised that this myth is perpetuated but I guess it's quite cute. And I always knew it was them leaving me money when my tooth fell out.

Since I was six. It's really sad, because I really did believe in Santa, except on night, I stayed up really really late because I wanted to wait for him. I heard a shuffle, and I went to check, and then it was my mum putting the presents... I was like really really shocked, and I'm like... "no santa?". Well, I got over it, but I still can't forgive my mum for ruining my innocence. lol
