grind toffee chips to make them coarse in a food processor or by hand with a morter and pescle (sp?).

Melt vanilla almond bark, in which you dip your favorite pretzels. Lay the pretzels to dry on foil or waxed paper. While the bark is still "wet," sprinkle it with the toffee dust.

Depends on whether you mean food, alcoholic beverage, or snack.
A great easy snack is Soy Soaked Bacon Wraps
Soak a small can of water chestnuts in a bowl of soy sauce.
Cut a package of bacon in half so you end up with two short slabs of bacon. Wrap each chestnut with a little slab of bacon and place on a shallow baking sheet. Drizzle remaining soy sauce over the whole thing then bake at about 350 or until the bacon is crispy.

This a cookie bar recipe soooooooooo simple and soooooooo damn good !!!

Layer a cake pan with graham or saltine crackers (yes either cracker will work wonderfully!! ). Melt 2 sticks of butter with 1 cup of brown sugar and a dash of salt. Pour this over the crackers evenly and bake for 17 minutes at 350*. Remove from oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips or any chocolate chunks you desire. Wait a few minutes for chocolate to melt then spread out over the entire bar. Let cool completely, cut ans serve.

I hope you love them as much as we do. SO simply and very few ingredients !!

Merry CHRISTmas !

pepperminy popcorn....i've said this to a lot of people who ask for recipes because it's very delicious.

I suggest using kettle corn, but unseasoned popcorn, or butter popcurn works the same. It just depends on if you want a buttery peppermint taste, just peppermint, or a little extra sweetness with it.

Ingredients:

3 quarts popcorn
1/4 cup corn syrup
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon peppermint or mint extract
(if peppermint extract is unavailable, buy a bag of round peppermint candies and use 1/4 cup)
1/2 cup butter or margarine (or 1 stick of butter)

instructions:

melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. mix together sugar and salt, (if you use peppermints instead of extract, crush peppermints if you like, or leave them whole and add to sugar mixture) once butter is melted, add the corn syrup and sugar mixture and continue to heat over medium heat; stirring occasionally. heat can be increased if you like, but once it starts boiling return to medium heat.

spread popcorn on a greased baking pan or in a greased roasting pan. making sure that the popcorn is no more than an inch thick. once mixture is boiling(and peppermints melted) continue to boil over medium heat for 5 minutes. laddles or pour over popcorn stirring as you go to get an even coat. (if a light coat is preferred only use half of the mixture) bake in a preheated oven 250 degrees for 20 minutes, stirring atleast 3 to 4 times for keep the coat even. take out and spread on sheets of wax paper. let cool and break into chunks and seal in a tight container.

We love taking a Lil Smokie sausage, wrapping a 1/2 piece of good raw bacon around it, roll it in brown sugar and bake at 375 until the bacon is crisp. They are sooooo yummy. We have them with our Christmas breakfast but I have taken them to parties and they are a big hit.

PERFECT CHOCOLATE CAKE

4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
1/2 c. milk
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1/4 tsp. Jamaican allspice
1 egg yolk
2 c. cake flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1 c. superfine sugar
2 egg yolks
3 T. water
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbsp. dark rum
2 egg whites, whipped

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 2 - 9 inch layer cake pans.
Whisk together chocolate, milk, allspice, brown sugar and one egg yolk in the top of a double boiler, stirring until a custard is formed and mixture thickens. Cool. Stir in baking soda and salt. Sift the flour onto waxed paper.

In bowl of electric mixer, whip the butter, gradually adding sugar and two egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

In a cup, stir together 3 T. water, 1/2 c. milk, and 1 tsp. vanilla extract and 1 Tbsp. dark rum.

Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture alternating with the vanilla/milk/water mixture. Stir in the chocolate custard mixture and beat until smooth, approximately two to three minutes at medium speed of mixer.

In a clean bowl, using the wire whisk attachment of your electric mixer, beat two egg whites until soft peaks form; gently fold into cake batter.

Turn into greased layer cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees F. for about 25 minutes or until cake tester or toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Turn out onto wire racks to cool. Level with a serrated knife if required, then stack and frost with chocolate frosting.

Note: This recipe calls for superfine sugar, not to be confused with confectioners or 10X sugar. If you don't have superfine sugar you can pulse regular granulated sugar in the food processor to substitute. Domino supplies superfine sugar in 1 pound packages at the supermarket or in larger quantities at the bakery supply or foodservice outlet. Superfine sugar dissolves readily and works best for cakes, helping to produce a lighter texture.
