I'm a very conservative, and am a vegan. I think people tend to label and stereotype people way to often. I have lupus, the vegan diet was recommended to me by many doctors to stop flare-ups. I have a lot of friends I met in hospitals and doctor offices who claimed they would have died if they had not turned vegan. It has nothing to do with political views. It can be based on religious, health, and ethic views but personally some peoples claims are outrageous at how they just group us all together and say that we are either this way or that. A lot of religions are vegetarian or vegan because of their faiths and 99% of the ones I know are not liberals. Many people whether that eat meat still eat plants, I have never met anyone that adheres to a strictly animal diet, and a lot of people grow their own vegetable gardens and plant fruit trees so they are replenishing what they take, where as I don't think the same can be said for those that eat meat.

Strict vegans actually do not kill plants. They only eat plant materials that don't kill the plant or they eat plants that have died, like fruits and grains.
As for vegetarians and animals, they generally are against the exploitation of a creature with clear thoughts and feelings (not just killing animals, but raising them simply to be killed or taking advantage of their weakness in the face of the killing power of humans). You could argue that plants have feelings, but there is little scientific evidence to support such a notion.

I'm a vegan. I'd rather unwillingly kill an animal than kill one inhumanely. No matter what diet you are one, it will cause other life to die. That's just the way life is. The biggest reason I choose to be vegan is strictly because of animal cruelty and torture. It is one thing to shoot an animal, but clubbing or skinning an animal to death in order to save money just disgusts me. GO VEG!

Though I doubt the amount the Vegans consume would make much difference, the loss of plant life is the most dangerous loss we deal with today. Without plant life to change carbon dioxide to oxygen, our world will slowly poison its air and we will all cease to exists. RMmom

The destruction of the planet is caused by destroying ecosystems, not from eating animals. That is, unless animals are hunted to extinction. I don't recall many plants that wear eaten towards extinction before, but the rain forest is being destroyed.

Vegans do kill but eating a tomato is not comparable to harpooning a whale. Deforestation isn't occurring due to a vegan's need for fresh vegetables. In fact, most of them grow their own, But it does take approx. 10 acres of pasture per cow (in a temperate climate) so I would imagine if everybody were vegan much less of the earth's resources would be used feeding everybody. And besides, I've never heard a head of lettuce cry. If you want to hear cattle cry, go to a slaughter house.

I think you are joking but if you are not: Plants do not have brains, animals do. I eat both, I am an omnivore. But I know vegans and have Tried it for a month and this was my rational.

Psssttttssttss. That's a good one. They take things abit too far. They will buy pampers for their children that take about 100 years or more to biodegrade, and buy glues and clothes made from animal biproducts. They will buy live Christmas trees and think nothing of it, but eat a hamburger! Oh my gosh, your going to hell.

there is a distinct difference between animal and plant
have you ever seen a plant mourn for its babies ?
no ? didnt think so
and any decent vegan who cares for this world ( and i know many )
quite often replant what they take from the earth
they often prefer to eat what they plant also
bad theory you got there
