Assuming god was real, if he rules through fear and demands praise and worship he's a tyrant, is he not?
No tyrant is worthy of my respect. And though I may fear one, it's never a good thing.

Hi, Guess you haven't tried to raise any kids yet. My Father ruled the house and wasn't afraid to use a belt if I got out of line. To this day I both respect and miss my dad who died a few years back from cancer. Sometimes a little fear (respect) can be a great way to keep a child out of trouble that could either harm them or worse yet get them killed. It's obviouse you have no clue about being a parent. Fearing God will keep you from rebelling. A loving parent instills respect in their children. Glad mine did. Another thing...we don't have to worry about God's morals, but he does have to worry about our's, and that's why a little fear of him is a good thing. You'll understand this when your kids become teenagers. I've raised five kids so I know a little about parenting. KalleyD, You are correct. Most of these people here are just kids, and have no idea who God is...That's why we Christians need to cut them a little slack. Jesus said Father forgive them they know not what they do. It shows here every day that they don't even know what they are doing. Kaatj-e, Nice answer, but they still don't understand it. Until they have a relationship with our Lord and Saviour, they won't get his message. Those that have an ear listen. Many don't want to hear his message, and are therefore lost, and that is very sad. All we can do is pray that someday God will open their hearts to his urgent message. Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all have a safe and happy Holiday!!! Roger, You can take off that crappy old hat you're wearing, because God loves you too! Happy Holidays to all the non-believers out there today!

You must think about the difference between the translation and the original meaning. To fear God means to respect God. Respect God by keeping his commands, and worshiping him wholeheartedly, not just on Sunday then forget about him the rest of the week.

Yes! We should fear God for two reasons. First because He is the All Mighty and can destroy us with just a thought. Second and I think this reason is the most important one: Because God is Love and He loves and cares for us when we are truly undeserving. He has feelings just like we do, that's where we got them from and we promise and promise things to Him in a hope to get what we want, then we ever forget our promise or we blame Him the next time something bad happens to us. He is our Loving Father and if you have children then you know that they can hurt you faster then anyone can. His love for us is without measure, without end and without being asked for. We do not deserve His love or His kindness but He gives it to us freely and that's why we should fear Him!

Hmmm, your asking if we should fear the One who can blink and the whole world and all in it can be annihilated. Yes, fear the Lord God Almighty!
God Bless You

Yes, you must fear god, but it's a pious fear. Not scary. He is a loving God and wants us to communicate with him the same way a father communicates with a child.

Fear Him now, or fear Him later.... after you die, you will definitely fear Him and wish you had lived your life on earth following Him...
