already have with a lower interest rate than what the first card will be after the promotion ends? My credit isn't GREAT, but it's not bad either. I know it will depend on a variety of factors, so I'm not looking for sound advice, but a gut feeling.

Ok. I have this store credit card which I opened when I purchased some furniture. The promotion was no payments no interest for a certain length of time. The time is almost up. If the balance isn't paid off before times up, I get the joys of retroactive interest, which I'm not looking forward to.
I also have another Visa type credit card. It is very close to being maxed out.
My question: How likely is it that I can convince Visa to extend my credit enough to transfer my store credit card over to them? As I said my credit isn't overly great, but it's not bad either. I want to know if I should even bother trying, or just suck it up and deal with the retroactive interest.

Sorry it was not clear originally.

If you have a good payment history with the credit card company ... i.e. not excessively late on your payments or only paid late 1 time in a year or so .... AND ... the money you need to borrow isn't a huge increase over your current limit (i.e. if your limit now is 2,000 and you want it increased to 8,000 that may be hard ... but if your limit now is 6,000 and you want to boost it to 8,000 - 10,000) your odds are pretty good they'll let you boost the limit.

Best thing to do is call their customer service and explain you want to increase your limit with the Express purpose of transferring debt from a different account onto their account ... and they will probably do it ... since when they pull your credit report it will show that you're not really increasing your debt ... you're just moving it into their hands.

Good luck.

It will probably depend on how well you have been keeping up with the credit card payments. If you have been paying the minimum amount on time, they will probably be quite happy to extend your credit. It may also depend on how much the transfer would be.......It is certainly worth calling and asking. And you know what? I honestly think (not a fact, though) that alot has to do with the personality or mood of the person you talk to on the phone. If they turn you down, I would try again in a few days. It won't hurt anything except maybe your feelings, and it might help alot.

You can transfer balances to whomever you want, and whenever you wish. Credit card companies (on the receiving end) love it when you do that.
