Yeah, but I was born long before you were thought of. My parents told me there was a bogey man in our back yard when I was about 4 yrs. old and that he would get me if I went too far from the house. Later in life I was told it was because there was an in ground swimming pool (didn't require fences then) and a hedgerow. On the other side of the hedges was a highway. They apparently were trying to keep me safe by instilling fear. It worked.

Heck yes!! We were told about La Llorona (Crying woman). She's like a Mexican version of Susan Smith. It a story about woman who was having an affair with this guy, but the guy didn't want kids. So she drowned her kids in the river, but afterwards the guy didn't want to be with her. So she went crazy and killed herself. Her ghost wanders around crying forever and taking and drowning children to replace the ones she killed. Our family used to tell us to watch out when we outside playing at night because if we went too far she would get us. Now I know it was just a way to keep us from running off and getting hurt, but jeez me, my bros and sis, and cousins had nightmares until we were 12!

My dad would tell me stories about the bogey man, about how he never hit his putts for par. Always one over, poor guy.

Yes. My granny used to tell every kid in the family that he lived on the roof, and he would come and get you or something. I believed it was real for awhile.
