What?

Come on! There are much better arguements for both evolution and creation than talking about things no one understands.

...why ARE there identical non-coding regions in diverse vertebrate groups, smartypants.

All life has a common source. Most of the "problems" were solved before mammals came into existence. We utilize the same old genetic codes most of the other animals use...we even share DNA with bananas.

I have to agree with Sho-Nuff. Why would our bodies be so complex if we were created? The supposed god is omnipotent, right? He could have simply made us out of living mud, one solid piece. If we were created there would be no reason for dna, rna, or internal organs. There would be no reason we'd need to breathe, eat, and sexually reproduce. Unless god is a fan of Rube Goldberg, there's no reason our bodies should have such complexity. Unless... of course, we changed and became more complex over time *gasp*. What a concept!

Edit: "I don't understand why people can't believe that God could create us...Isn't it more likely that God made the world as he did, DNA, Non-coding regions, etc. etc. and all and that it is just that we are SO advanced that we have figured out how he did it?"

Hahahaha. No. It isn't. You *were* kidding, right? Right...?

Because they were present in an ancestor to the vertebrates. There are a number associated with transposons.

I don't understand why people can't believe that God could create us...Isn't it more likely that God made the world as he did, DNA, Non-coding regions, etc. etc. and all and that it is just that we are SO advanced that we have figured out how he did it? Just because things can be explained scientifically does not mean that God did not make them.

In response: Kinda :-) But I am a believer.

How did natural selection ADD GENES TO TO DNA SEQUENCE?!
Natural selection only 'selects' those genes which are beneficial and helps them be propagated, it by no means add genes?

[010:066] No doubt! Verily, to God belongs whosoever is in the heavens and whosoever is in the earth. And those who worship and invoke others besides God, in fact they follow not the (God's so-called) partners, they follow only a conjecture and they only invent lies.

you mean introns? 99% of our genes are like the same as a chimpanzees, it is the subtle differences that make us us

LOL I agree, some people's ancestors may have been monkeys but mine certainly were not. God created everything from the dust, so why wouldn't there be similar genetics? It doesn't mean we evolved from one species. Well, maybe you did.

Because evolution is true.

If creation is true why are there non-coding regions at all?
