I MIGHT move there. Its in the Bronx. On Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. (I love the name of that street. He`s my hero.) I think the place is called High Bridge or something like that.
Tell me ANYTHING and EVERYTHING you know about this area.
(crime rate, schools, public transportation, stores, parks, ect.)

It's a high crime area and is known as part of the South Bronx. The murder and robbery risk is more than twice the national average. Highbridge was one of the Bronx neighborhoods that were completely destroyed from the 60s to the 90s (arson, crime, drugs, etc.) but it has gotten better since. But, there is a program that offers police officers 50% discounts on certain homes if they live in that neighborhood (among others) It's also a highly polluted area with poor air quality. It's just not a neighborhood people would really choose to live in if they had a choice.

Highbridge-Morrisania area has the highest HIV/AIDS mortality rate in NYC. There's high rate of hepatitis infection and substance abuse, high rate of language isolation, lower levels of education (52% of adults ages 25 and over do not have a high school diploma), and there's a lower median income. 57% of the people there are on some form of public assistance. Worse yet, approximately 25% of re-entrants from the correctional system are discharged into Highbridge (along with Crotona-Tremont and Hunts Point-Mott Haven)

It's right by Yankee Stadium and there's some sort of massive controversy happening in Highbridge because the plan for the new Yankee Stadium and parking lots will destroy the two neighborhood parks and almost 400 trees will be knocked down (making the pollution worse). They are supposedly going to replace the parks with a number of smaller, scattered parks but the neighborhood residents say it's a terrible idea.

It's roughly 60% Hispanic, 40% black.

good luck with that. My family and i have been searching for days on a good hotel that costs less that $300. No luck. (we are 5 people all together) I think its impossible. we might have to live outside of the city. But it just wont be the same good luck! and happy anniversary (you are smart for for planning early!)

you should be ok, you're out of the dreaded 'south bronx' area. Course no matter what, you'll still run into attitude, cuz if you didn't you wouldn't be in NYC.
