If someone put a gun to my head and told me to deny the Lord and live, I couldn't do it, not in good conscience. If I deny the Lord in this life, He will deny me in the next, and I don't want that, Luke 9:22-26.

How can I know the will of god? I would need to know the will of god before I could choose to deny god. Was I given the gun to kill myself because someone thinks that suicide is a way to deny god? Was I given the gun to kill someone else because murder might be a sin and therefor a means to deny god? Should I entice another to sin and then kill them becasue in their belief system if they die an unrepentant sinner they are condemned to hell and god is denied their soul? There are so many options here and its not clear at all what denial of god may mean.
I presume the answer you are looking for is to kill myself, but even that is really not denial of god. As near as I can tell it is impossible to deny god because god accepts everything.

My belief is that getting shot inthe head for doing the right thing we be just fine with me
Many people may be like all, I don't know what I would do.
You need to know what you would do or your one sorry christian.
God blesses those who die for his name, those people recieve the biggest rewards of all. In fact, I would be happy to be asked about my faith because I would gladly take the bullet and see this painful world be gone.
I will NEVER deney my LORD for he is my savior and my LIFE!
However in your case, you may say say I belive in God and it wouldn't matter because the bullet would not be able to penetrate your head because it is metal
The the guy would be like all "AHHHHH!!!!" and run away saying he has seen the man of Iron for GOD!!!

I would not deny. Takes me home that much quicker. That happened to some of the kids in the Columbine shooting. As well as to Christians across the world.
To germainer: Yes, Peter denied Jesus. It was to make a point that you, a human, can not keep promises to the perfect God. It demonstrated human weakness. It never said that Peter was right in denying.

There haven't been Christian martyrs in hundreds of years. The reason martyrs were held in such regard was to preserve the religion. Otherwise, no one would convert in the early days because of the fear of death. After Christians took control of Rome, monasteries replaced martyrdom instead.
Anyway, I'm sure God would rather have you alive by telling one little lie to an evil would-be murderer than have your brains splattered out because of your religion. What about your friends and family? Wouldn't your death cause them great pain and sadness? I'm sure you have told a lie at least once before in your life, and I'm sure that telling this one little lie would is justified by the preservation of your life.

I pray that I would be strong enough to react the same way Jesus did when he was facing a tortuous death.
Acts 8:32-33; Now the passage of Scripture that he was reading aloud was this: “As a sheep he was brought to the slaughter, and as a lamb that is voiceless before its shearer, so he does not open his mouth. 33 During his humiliation the judgment was taken away from him. Who will tell the details of his generation? Because his life is taken away from the earth.”
(Isaiah 53:7) He was hard pressed, and he was letting himself be afflicted; yet he would not open his mouth. He was being brought just like a sheep to the slaughtering; and like a ewe that before her shearers has become mute, he also would not open his mouth.
(1 Peter 2:23) When he was being reviled, he did not go reviling in return. When he was suffering, he did not go threatening, but kept on committing himself to the one who judges righteously.

I would never deny my Lord. What can mere man do to me, compared to what is in store for us eternally? People actually do die for their faith, and have a lot in the past. Being shot in the head is nothing compared to what comes after. Yes, it would be very scary though, I admit.

I would respond however God would choose to impress and enable me to respond.
God may choose to allow a Christian's life to be short if that leads to the conversion of one or more other individuals who are present. In this case,
or
God may choose to extend the Christian's life to continue winning even more hearts to Christ for preparation to live in heaven.
Either way, at that moment, God will impress on my mind and conscience what His will is and grant me grace to do it.
That means either stay and speak or run. Whatever God decides.

I hope and pray that fear would never be great enough to influence me to deny God, but since I haven't been in that situation, I don't know for sure. :-( Ideally, I would like to respond by praying the Lord's Prayer out loud - best answer I can think of.

That happened to me in the Jungles of the Philippines a couple of years ago. I did not deny and I am still here today....it is hard, it is scary and I really do not know where the courage came from but it led to more support of our mission there.
