because it has your smell on it and they associate that chair with you... they know you'll come sit in and will want to sit with you... my cat does that and as soon as i sit down he jumps in my lap.

Probably because the same reason it is your favorite chair. It also helps knowing that the kitty will get some attention knowing someone will be coming to sit there soon and possibly may be petting them in there favorite spot. Purr purrr.

Cats like warmth and since the chair is sat in it's going to be warm. They also like to sit in places you are also because that's where they feel most comfortable.

Maybe it is because of the smell you leave there and also to the fact that the cat knows its your favorit and know it will get attention if it stays in it. I don't know... just a guess.

cuz if its your favrotie chair that means that you sit in it a lot and since you sit it in a lot it has your scent or smell on it soo therefor the cat wants to be in a place where it thinks it safe and if your cat loves you it thinks that you will prtect it too it goes by what smells like you!

There is probably a greater chance that the seat is warm from you sitting in it earlier, that and to force you to give them attention.

I agree with heartbreaker. Your cat loves being your companion and the more it smells of you, the happier it is.

If they like you they want to enjoy your scent. Cats are all about scents too. If you see them massaging their paws into the carpet or couch, they are not just sharpening their claws, they are spreading their scent.
