Stove Top is a stuffing that was introduced by General Foods in 1972. It is a quick cooking ("instant") stuffing that is available in supermarkets. Unlike traditional stuffing, Stove Top can be prepared on the stove, in a pot. It is used as a side dish for meals as well as a medium in which some meats (pork, chicken) can be baked. It is sold in boxes and canisters. Today, Kraft Foods, which now owns the brand, sells about 60 million boxes of it at Thanksgiving, a company spokeswoman said.
There are a variety of flavors, including Chicken, Lower Sodium Chicken, Cornbread, Pork, Beef, Savory Herbs, Traditional Sage, Tomato & Onion, San Francisco Sourdough, Mushroom & Onion, Long Grain & Wild Rice and Roasted Garlic, Turkey, and Cranberry.
Not as good as home-made stuffing, it IS simple !! I used to use it when I lived aboard my sailboat and had minimal kitchen facilities.

No one is exactly sure what is in stove top stuffing is some kind of bread product that turns into an over-seasoned glue like substance when water is added. Someone thought it tasted good shoved inside a turkey's a*s. I would not serve it to my dog hope this answers your question

stuffing, as in found with a turkey dinner, is bread, seasoning, and a choice of other ingredients that can include mushrooms, meat, nuts, carrots, etc. It is mixed into a moist mixture that is usually baked then served with gravy, stove top stuffing is just an instant variation, sold under that name in stores that cooks instantly, add boiled water and mix and serve.

Stove Top Stuffing is prepackaged dried croutons with seasonings. You boil water & butter and then add the dry packaged ingredients. Pretty good, but not as good as homemade -- it will do in a pinch though.
