i suggest that if you don't already know this person... don't go somewhere to eat because it's hard to have a conversation and eat... to hard, messy and not polite to talk with food in your mouth... and don't do a movie cause you can't talk during that either and the point of the first date is to get to know each other... i think bowling is a great first date or something along those lines were you can get to know the person.

If he asked you out, he should plan the night and try to impress, especially since it's the first date. Otherwise, since you're both 17, dinner and a movie is perfectly appropriate. You can even see the movie first, and then have dinner afterwards - that way you can at least talk about the movie over dinner so the conversation doesn't die. If he asked you out on the date, he should definitely pay - however, you should at least offer to pay for your share anyway.

Try to make it something simple. A movie or a "cup of cpffee" will give you some time to get to know eachother while keeping you in a public setting. First dates should be about fun and sharing. This can include the bill, but if he offers to pay,let him. This will let you know that he isn't "cheap"..and it will make him feel he is doing something for you.

The best thing to do on a first date is something fun and outdoors.
Paintballing, jetskiing, snowboarding, something active and fun that enables you to have fun without being forced to rely on each other to provide all the fun.

As to him offering to pay - try to go dutch, but if he insists on paying then accept on the condition you pay next time. Good luck, hope you have fun.

If he asks you out on the date then he should be paying. And vice versa. Keep in mind though going all the way on the first date is not a guarantee of a second date.

Let him pay, most guys like to because they feel more important and like to let you know that they can support you like that (it's mostly psychological, I won't get into it).
A few suggestions are bowling or dinner or movies or dinner and a movie! If you do go to dinner, make sure that you go some where lively and not too quiet so it won't be too awkward/bashful feeling :). Good luck!

a first date in my eyes should be a quiet place like a restuarant or park so you can have a good time getting to know each other without having to scream over background noise....if he offers to pay let him...its always a nice gesture......

Attend!
But what is this other baggage 'can't do each other houses?' stuff?
So the two of you are ashamed of your families?
What are these other questions?
'Pay" for what the date or sex Guy's usually pays
he would do what?? Sex sure he would!!!
'Let Him? why not Your ashamed of your family get pregnant and show off for them.

...i think it's best to go somewhere you can talk, like a restaraunt. Coffee's not bad either.

...if you're both really shy them maybe a movie w/ Starbucks after.

...offer to pay half and if he wants to pay for everything then let him.

If he offers to pay let him. Some cats get offended if the woman tries to pay.
And for as what to do on your first date, behonest and be your-self.
