I had a fridge freezer delivered today. It didnt arrive until 7.15pm when the delivery men were obviously tired after a long day. They didnt take away my old fridge but agreed to for what they said would amount to a Christmas tip. I asked how much a tip was - 10 pounds, they replied. They didn't unpack the fridge freezer which I did , so I now have all the packaging to dispose of. Checking the item I now find a small dent on one side and a chip on the front panel which I may or may not have caused while unpacking it - I am not sure..I feel pretty unimpressed by the whole delivery experience . Should I complain or just accept it as another of life's less pleasant realities of life in the UK?

I bet you waited in all day for the prats to turn up too!

We have all been through this - in future if the shop cannot deliver at a specific time and do what is printed on the order - i.e. unpack and allow you to check the contents (and if you had arranged for the old one to be taken away), just threaten to cancel and demand your money back. I would go into the shop and raise hell and do it front of all of the customers that are there. Demand to see the manager, tell him the service is crap, tell him you want things sorting out and now and demand compensation or you will go to the Small Claims Court.

Don't take no ****!

I would call the company and ask for a manager. Explain what when on and make sure you keep the tone of voice pleasant as we get further when we are polite. Good Luck If you don't get the answer you want then let them know you are not a push over. How bad is the dent. If I bought a new fridge I want one that will look good for years.

Get in touch with the company and ask what the policy is, making sure they know that you're unhappy with the way things were handled. I would have been loathe to give them money to take away the old one! Cheek of them! If the item is damaged then you are entitled to complain and expect non damaged goods to delivered - that's what you paid for. It may be you have to accept things the way they are but I'd certainly do all I could to get the goods in new condition and an acceptable level of service.

many retailers charge to remove your old appliance. many also charge for unpacking/installation. on these two issues you need to check your contract with them. the fact the the fridge is damaged you are entitled to an exchange or a discount. contact them straight away.

phone the shop where you brought it.. explain that the old one wasnt taken away (if you paid for this) and the new one is dented and chipped.. stick to your guns....you are not satisfied...

you did not need to pay any 'tip' complain about that too...
i hope you get better service next time, and avoid this company in the future... good luck and merry christmas

complain!! doesn't matter if you did it or not, just don't tell them that. get them to change it. the UK is absolutely CRAP for customer service, you should always make companies work for you, never accept less than adequate.
However, don't rant and rage about it - be polite and really nice to the person you're speaking to, you'll be surprised with the results you'll get.
