Hmmm... another "9 million" pagan.
Hon, that number was made up. 9 million people didn't exist during the inquisition. And of the "9 million" people who supposedly died during the "burning times" most of them were Christians. The number is exaggerated, hasn't been proved and is a load of crock.
So, next... pagan. Spell checker is built right into this program, use it. Stop making us look like uneducated freaks.
It is not wrong to worship the Goddess, it hasn't been wrong for a long time (probably since before you were born hon), and why are you dropping the "poor persecuted pagan" hat into the mix on this list?
We are survivors, hon, and this is a brand new day. Get rid of the persecution complex, drop the facade and get with living your own life with the Goddess.
Are we hated? Well, isn't everyone? Look at this list. It is just chock full of buttheads who hate each other for being Christian, Muslim, Jewish, gay, lesbian, Democrats, Republicans, white, red, black and better looking than they are.
You want to add to that? Get a frellin life hon. And move on. Celebrate your freedom, stop dwelling on what was before. It was 9 million Holocaust victims, not 9 million pagans.

There is nothing wrong with believing in the Goddess. It is just not as publically accepted as some other religions. I believe that it is just a question of change and understanding. Humans by nature are against change and are afraid of what will happen if things do not change for the better personally speaking. Another thing that humans do is make presumptions about other things which they do not know. I believe that is the goal of this function on Yahoo. It should be used to provide valid answers of others who have the knowledge of which you seek. As a practicing Wiccan I have no problem telling people about who and what I am. I find no shame in it and I feel that I have every right to express my faith as much as any other religion. The only reason that people believe it to be wrong to worship the Goddess in main stream society is becasue people do not know enough about it and are quick to judge before they have all the facts. Which is why unless I am absolutely certian of the answer I do my research before answering any question here on Yahoo Answers. Hope I helped answer everything you wanted.
Blessed Be!

Some gods are entities, some of those are ancestors while others are spirits of various kinds. Anyone who has called upon the elements to protect corners know spirits exist. There are many different kinds of spirits beyond simple elementals, some have been worshiped as gods. Many gods are allegories or concepts that have been fed believers' energies for periods of time. But how sentient and thinking and capable can an allegory be? The real use for an allegory is a tool to change states of mind. I have asked many times on this site for someone to define what a god is, but always was disappointed. I'd have to describe myself as eclectic. Wisdom and knowledge are far more important than sticking with one particular mythology or another. I'm from the American Midwest.

You know what - no offense man, but you're starting to sound like the Christians who whine that they're being persecuted. Pagans may be disliked by some, but we are also more tolerated and respected than we have been in the past. So instead of crying how no one likes you or that you're persecuted or not accepted 100%, why not focus on the positive aspect -- that Pagans have come a long way. When you cry in public, everyone gets the impression that we're all whiner babies, and that's not the case.

It's not wrong. It's just not mainstream; and people are stupid and like to make fun of people who are different from them.
I find Wicca to be fascinating but I am too committed to my Christian religion to convert. I wish there could be a healhy interfaith dialogue between Christians and Pagans.

i have been seeing a growing love and understanding of those of Pagan beliefs ...
ok it is a little slow , but people are coming round to the idea
yes there will always be the ones who are judgemental and intollerant of your beliefs ...
but those type of people would do this no matter what you believed , if it isnt the same as what they believe
dont worry about it ... just keep living and loving

It's not wrong. We've just got centuries of slander to undo before people accept that.
