No. Do you understand that illegals are deliberately coming here by the millions to receive such benefits? This privilege is being severely abused by people who want to have their children here to avoid deportation and to receive benefits. Yes I feel sorry for the kids but they are being used and abused by their parents. They (the parents) should be punished for this not rewarded. The kids would not be citizens if their parents had not broken the law. This law was not made to be used this way.

These 'But what about the children?' questions are designed to make people go catatonic just like questions about racism against illegals. We can not afford to take care of all the world's children and should not have to apologize for this fact. Do their home governments bear no responsibility to them?

The current laws of the US state that a person born in the US is a citizen. Social services does not have any choice and what we think doesn't matter. If any of us feel strongly enough about the situation, we have the right to lobby to get the laws changed, but that will only change future births. Don't tell me that one individual can't make change, the current DUI laws in this country started changing with one woman.

I am of the belief that social services for anyone is ussually a farce. So you might correctly conclude that I am against giving your and my money away to illegal immigrants.

If you are screaming, but, what about the children?!?

What about them? How would you be sure any aid sent their way even goes to children? If you say, no to illegals but yes to their children, then what behavior are you encouraging? Wouldn't it follow that soon, no illegal immigrant would arrive without at least one child in tow?

The onus is on the parents to follow the rules. By helping the children, you bale out the adults. Do you really want millions of illegal immigrants, who don't speak your language, who want a hand out, who have no fear of consequences, all WITH children...don't tell me there won't be a huge price to pay for that somewhere down the road.

It's a catch 22. You don't give benefits and they get treated at a hospital. They cant pay the bill. It is a write off and tax payers pay the bill anyway. I can't balme a child because their parents came here illegally. Yes they should get health care. The answer is not to deny children who are illegal health benifits, the answer is stopping people from getting into this country illegally (then we would not have this problem in the first place).

if they are illegal too, I say no. I say send them back from where ever they came and when they can come back LEGALY then they can have rights. I think that is one of the biggest mistakes our government has made when they said anyone born in the U.S. is automastically a citizen, I think there should be an exception to people who crawl across the border and have a baby here just so they can be a citizen too.

It's that whole Constitution thing, getting in the way. Sorry, they have to allow it.

Its not a question of whether or not they should be allowed to. They HAVE to, because if you are born in this country, you are a citizen because of the 13th amendment, and if the gov't treats citizens different because of the status of their parents would violate the 14th amendment equal protection clause.

It is definitely a citizenship system that is open to abuse, but barring a change to the constitution, it is one that will stay in place.

Yes, because our country recognizese "as a citizen" anyone born on US soil (including Embassies overseas). The citizen then is entitled to any social services. Great Question!

Personally, I believe all children should be afforded health care. But the fact that illegal immigrants are siphoning my tax dollars really gets to me. I don't care if illegal immigrants want to work in this country, but if they want their kids to go to public school and have health care, then they should pay taxes like I do.
