No, that is just a saying that some people call each other , really as a friendly gesture. haven't you ever seen someone do something a little dumb or ask a silly question and a party will say , dumbo.

Well Now my reaction is that he looks at her like he looks at dumbo in the movie "Dumbo" and that little thing is adorable and then he just threw the baby in there because it sounds cuter and also babies are cute and innocent so it's not meant in a derogatory way, it's meant in an adoring way if you ask me.

depends on why or how he says it. some times guy are mean, and its a way of flirting. the word dumbo is not a normal word for guys to say, so he might be saying it in a cute way, and just be playing around.

I was ridiculed for having stick-out ears in junior high, they called me dumbo.
Then I came to school in long black trench coat, fresh from playing DOOM, and sprayed their blood all over the library walls.
