My dog has a tumor in her ear. When we had it removed, it grew back. My grandma; who was a doctor, said she has cancer. I have had my dog; who is now 12, for 12 years of my life. We are like sisters. I actually have never seen her as a 'dog' but as my sister. My parents want to put her down, and I am the only thing in their way. They don't want to put her down either, but they think it is the best thing to do soon. I don't know how to deal with it. Even the thought of her dying brings me to tears...

Insist that she be looked at by a vet, and then ask the vet what is best. Even if she has cancer, and there is no hope for her, you should have a month or two to say goodbye and deal with the coming loss. Concisder counseling to ease through this as well.

Also, it is possible something can be done .. so do the vet thing first.

have you guys tried radiation? I'm sorry, but a doctor for humans is NOTHING like a doctor for ANIMALS. Have the mass removed and biopsied, there is no way to tell it's cancerous unless proved by a biopsy, if so, there is radiation and chemotherapy for dogs.

Here is how I tell it's time to put an pet to sleep. List 3 of the absolute most favorite things in the world for the pet to do, when your pet can no longer do 2 of those things, it is time to go.

Until the legalize assisted suicides I don't think dogs should be put to sleep. Ask your parents if you had cancer would they kill you too?
