Pure and simple = free. People are so caught up in the "way things are" that they can't accept something truly pure and simple. You have to earn, buy, sweat, die, extort, sacrifice, suffer, humiliate yourself, gather the sheep, evangelize, JUST DO SOMETHING to get to the Kingdom. But not just BE! are you kidding. That's like saying "be not wary of tomorrow". You'll never hear a preacher take that ditty up to the pulpit.

Well, that's vague.

If you're referring to Xianity, it was never simple and pure.
It's based on a book that is a marvel in contradiction, written from word of mouth accounts of events that happened generations previous. The foundation was shaky from the start. What did you expect?

The appeal to each one's human nature is to be a god. Not like , "living in heaven", but more like having power over their own destiny without any interference from ANYONE! ...including One Who calls Himself God and want to tell them what to do and not do.

We all learn at a young age what "works" to have some semblance of power. It may be crying, or shouting, or quiting, or just "dropping out".

It is a simple concept: God loves you. God has sent one to save you.
But it is not simple to people who are "in charge".....even if they are long-time church members. All want to show how good THEY are.
