at its most elemental, wasn't Jesus a communist? He preached that people should give up their worldly possessions to follow him. He advocated that the rich should give to the poor. He told us how difficult it was for the rich man to get to heaven. He lived in essence in a commune with his disciples, relying on others to feed and clothe him and his followers. His teachings are all very anti-capitalist, his parables are always emphasizing the little guy, the worker, the servant, over that of the rich man, the owner. Think about it--that is pure communism at work is it not?

No, it is not. Jesus' situation and that of other christians since then, is different. We don't ask for disciples to follow us around, and perform miracles, and declare we are the messiah, etc. You are in error, about them totally relying on others to feed and clothe them. Where do you get that? He did speak of the rich man struggling with things that a poor person does not have to struggle with, but that is straightforward and easy to see. I don't see the point you are making, to be honest. But, it also is not a new question, and some people agree with you, and actually try to mimic the situation you describe. To most christians, those people are just a tad "off", to be honest. Teachings anti-capitalist? His dad taught him to be a carpenter, and he learned the trade, but had bigger things to deal with later in his life, and only lived 33 years. He was the servant of all, but also spent time with tax collectors, and those that were wealthy. His message was always the same, to share the good news, and to be their savior, and show the way back to God.

Sure. And the operative words you used are "at its most elemental" and basic principles...

But not quite like the Communism and Socialism of Marx, Lenin, Stalin, or Mao that the modern world is quite familiar with. And without the necessity of having a military build-up of the Red Army. NO WAY, Jose!

But you're right in that Yeshua Messiah/ Jesus the Christ propagated the day-to-day "communions of the Brotherhood" with our Heavenly Father, our Earthly Mother and the fourteen Angels.

And He told us to follow the Law of the Brotherhood which states that:

"None shall have wealth, and none shall be poor; and all shall work together in the gardens of the Brotherhood. Yet each shall follow his own path, and each shall commune with his own heart..."

Peace be with you.

you're a sprint puzzled with your words Eli. government administration of the potential of production is fascism. Socialism is a utopia suitable the place some people pass out and smash there backs to tug the wagon of state. on an analogous time as various the inhabitants rides alongside interior the wagon on the backs of the manufacturers. It does not paintings. Fascism works because of the fact different manufacturers are profited by utilising their exertions. authentic socialism or semi socialism murders the manufacturers and rapidly everybody desires to be those driving interior the wagon of state and not killing themselves pulling it for no longer something.

The early church practiced a form of communism where everyone shared their goods and possessions with the other members of their community and with those in need. This was and is distinctly different from Lenin's communism.

If it could be defined as a "pure communism" then, maybe.

But it was ONLY in the church over which He alone is the head/lord/king.

It was not in any way a political system and it certainly not that any person not born again could even agree to.
Consider the first church in Jerusalem. They tried it as a political system IN THE CHURCH. But because of the "flesh" (human nature still clinging to disciples) it didn't work in the organization:

Acts 4:37-5:11

37 Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet.

Acts 5

5:1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,
2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.
3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.
5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.
6 And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.
7 And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.
8 And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.
9 Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.
10 Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.
11 And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.
KJV

That FEAR has lasted. Even though in the 1960s it was tried again in Christian "communes". Where are they today?

Sharing with others is a GOAL. We have to fight the "sinful nature" all the time to do it.

Rom 7:14-20

14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do-this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
