I don't agree with the remark about HAL's treatment of their staff but that is my opinion. I have been working on HAL for sometime and had a great time and no problems at all.

Anyway to answer your questions. HAL is more aimed at a bit "older" crowd in my eyes (40-50 and up) but you'll find many younger people onboard as well. The ships are not really equipped with tennis courts and the sorts. Often you'll find a small tennis court onboard or a volleyball court/ baseball court.

I don't really think there is something missing on the HAL ships, I am sure you will have a good time onboard and surely you will find something to do onboard.

Well, the staff on Holland America lines are often treated pretty poorly, but at the same time the staff is very attentive. If you've never been treated to good service before, prepare to enjoy yourself.

Of course nothing is perfect, and everyone has their own experiences and perceptions.

Anyway, generally Holland America cruises have very few activities of the tennis court, surfing pool, skating rink, climbing wall, etc. than the more family oriented cruise lines.
