(Quote by St Augustine) By being a Virgin and Mother, is Mary is also a figure of the Church and at her most perfect realization? Was her submission to God's will for her an example for all Christians.

Merry Christmas.

But was Mary blessed more by her faith in Christ than by conceiving her son in her womb?

This would be the classic case of faith without works being dead.

If Mary had all the faith in the universe, yet never actually gave birth to her divine son, we would all still be enslaved to Satan, sin, and death.

Works do matter.

Also, if Mary had not been conceived totally free from sin, than Jesus could not have been born the perfect, spotless sacrifice for sin, and his mission as Messiah would have failed before it even began.

The Bible clearly states that Mary was already highly favored by God, at the time Gabriel spoke to her.

The term "highly favored" is the very definition of grace.

Yet every other human born since Eve had been born lacking grace, and separated from God by original sin..

Mary was indeed preserved from sin by God, and was filled with grace from her conception, so she could be the ark of the new covenant that would carry our holy savior for some 9 months, and then go on to be Christ's first, best, and most constant disciple, for another 33 years.

If Mary's flesh was ever tainted by sin, than, since his flesh came from hers, Jesus would be also.

Those who falsely maintain that the Bible says otherwise simply don't get it.

No Mary = No Jesus.

No SInless Mary = No Sinless Jesus.

No Sinless Jesus = No Redemption.

No Redemption = Eternal Slavery to Satan, Sin,and Death.

It can't "add-up" any other way.

I am not Roman Catholic, so my view may be different than yours. I think Mary was a very faithful believer in God and probably lived an excellent virtuous life. But I believe even she needed a Savior. I say this with much humility because I have great respect for the mother of God, but she was a human being and I feel all humans need Jesus. She is a wonderful example to the world. I wish the Protestant Church acknowledged her a little more. God Bless and Merry Christmas to you.

Her "blessedness" was because of her faith in the message from God through the angel. She just accepted it!

That submission is the example which God wants each of to follow.

The child born to her was completely God's work and not the Virgin Mary's.

Mary was blessed by God; but was a sinner in need of salvation just like every other human being to be born. She was NOT immaculately conceived, she was chosen to be the mother of the only begotten Son of God. She was NOT Holy. Only God is Holy.

In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.

And remember when the angels said, 'O Mary, Allah has chosen thee and purified thee and chosen thee above all women of the time.'

'O Mary, be obedient to thy Lord and prostrate thyself and worship the one God with those who worship Him.'
