When I download a free trial from download.com it downloads, installs and the screen pops up that says start free trial but when I click it nothing happens. The start free trial screen just sits there. Is there something in the settings on my computer that is blocking me from playing?

It is any game I try to download. I was trying the Tycoon games a couple of weeks back and now I want to download the free trial of Pharoah. I don't mind purchasing the full game, but just want to try it out first.

You said trial but what type of trail? you did not even list the name of the program you download. wanna help also cannot man. try to redownload sometime the file u download is corrupt even is rare but it do happen. If redownload also cannot work try go to the software homepage and read the help file they provide.Try restart your computer.this is the best i can answer without any information.
You got enough Memory or not?

You using what video card some 3d game cannot even open when you don't have 3D card.
if got 3D card try update the 3d card patch

check security level on your antivirus software or try downloding it again
