You can if you want to. The darker your hair though - the more layers the dye will strip to get to the color you want. My hair is dark brown as well - I went redhead for a minute back to brown then to a honey blond. Dyeing does not work well with my hair so I stopped doing it.

I had brown hair and I dyed my hair blond for quite a few years. It added a lot of body to my hair, but it also made it grow faster. So I was dying my hair about every three weeks. - I have thick long hair and had to use 2 boxes of dye. I used Nice & Easy.

You are only supposed to dye your hair within two shades of your natural color (lighter or darker)!
I recently did this going from dark brown, to light brown, to dark blonde and then back! You're best off leaving a dramatic change like this to a professional, but if you're going to do it yourself, make sure you do it gradually!!

at the beginning, who cares what the "standard young ones" say? i realize it hurts now, yet 10 years from now, it won't count. you would be a school graduate through then, and in all risk in a dating with somebody who LOVES your crimson hair! meanwhile, in case you hair is definitely crimson, visit a salon and ask for some concepts from the stylist. they have a lot of color samples so which you may compliment between and that they'd assist you to opt on the terrific color for you. that's particularly helpful to tone the crimson down slightly, yet see what the stylist says. stable success!

Why die it, go natural! God gave me this hair mix between auburn and brown, and it streaks crazy from the sun, but I love it, it 's me. Go with what you got! Why be a Blondie? We have just as much fun! or more....

O.K. hair color 101, you can only go 2 to 3 shade lighter or darker, depending on you starting color. So if you want to go much lighter than that you'll have to bleach, and thats best left to professionals, if you don't have experience with hair color, go to this web site to look at the hair color chart http://scott.k12.va.us/scctc/Cosmetology/Images/naturalcolorlevels.jpg hope this helps.

It will work, but you might have to bleach it first if it's a dark brown.
