DRUG INTERACTIONS: It is recommended that doxycycline not be taken at the same time as aluminum-, magnesium-, or calcium- based antacids, such as Mylanta, Maalox, Tums, or Rolaids because, like food, these medications bind doxycycline in the intestine. Similarly, doxycycline should not be taken with minerals (such as calcium or iron), with bismuth subsalicylate (Pepto Bismol).

Doxycycline may enhance the activity of warfarin (Coumadin) and cause excessive "thinning" of the blood, necessitating a reduction in the dose of warfarin. Phenytoin (Dilantin), carbamazepine (Tegretol), and barbiturates (such as phenobarbital) may enhance the metabolism (destruction) of doxycycline thus making it less effective.

Avoid alcohol while taking doxycycline, as alcohol may reduce its effectiveness.

Yes there is! First of all it is very dangerous to mix medications and alcohol. Alcohol use may decrease the antibiotic effect of Doxycyline.

INTERACTIONS:
This medication also interacts with antacids(decrease antibiotic absorption), ferrous sulfate and other iron products (decrease antibiotic absorption), hormonal contraceptives (this drugs effect is decreased and can cause breakthrough bleeding), oral anticoagulants ( anticoagulant effect is increased, bleeding is more than when this drug is taken alone) and penicillins ( bactercidal action is interrupted).

Take this medication with food or milk to prevent an upset stomach.

Avoid direct sunlight, wear protective clothing, and use sunscreen.

Hope this helps!!!

To put it in simple terms without the chemical interaction and contraindications, it will create a froth in your stomach and give you excessive/explosive diarrhea.

I wouldn't suggest doing it unless you're really brave and have lots of nice cushy TP in the bathroom...

I don't think it is advisable to take any meds with alcohol. Consult your pharmacist for more information.
