If you did not get your cat from a breeder or a breed specific rescue, chances are your cat is not a pure bred. She is most likely a "mutt" cat. These are referred to as domestic shorthair, medium hair or longhair. Some of the more common purebreds such as Persians and Siamese can be found in shelters, but not often.
