First your understanding is wrong. Nowhere is rape okay with God. Second God could not murder as murder is a law man is under and God who created life can righteosly require it. God is righteous he needs no law to tell him what righteousness is. God created man who sinned and the wages of sin is death. God paid the penalty of death for man. Yes God is Great and righteous and merciful.Your understanding is pathetic seek God and come to know him and then you will understand.

As long as we're talking old testament here, how would we feel about a guy who decides to obliterate every man, woman, child, and animal on the planet except for a small boatload of em because he was disappointed about how they turned out? Doesn't sound like a nice guy, does it? More like a sociopathic mass-murderer...and they call adultery a sin??

I would think he is insane in the membrane. Just like I think of Moses who wrote the book that says that.
I love the first response to this question that says "you really have no idea what you're talking about. grow up" because it did not answer the question at all. It shows Christian logic at its best - insult the person who questions the bible. Try to use peer pressure to force them to go along with it. If that does not work, do as the bible says and kill them.

Keep on reading the Bible literally and you will continue on this road. By the way, God isn't some hippy love freak; just because you think heaven should be democratic doesn't mean that it is.

He used to be quite grumpy in those days. But what would you do if you were God, and, after you drown just about everybody for not adoring you, the survivors just go on ignoring you? OK, maybe you wouldn't go around committing genocide but, hey! you're not a "loving" God, are you?

Since you used quotations, you're stating this is an excerpt from the bible right? Can you site the book and verse? I'd like to have a read...

I would follow the man who was perfect and died for me, so that I may go to Heaven. The one who says I will never leave you, I will be your comforter, and stick closer than a brother to you. The one who says, if your mother and father forsake you, I will not leave you. That is who I follow.
