Yeah the game I play is called MapleStory. I mean it's really fun I used to paly it everytime I went home from cheer practice. It's also really cool too cause my cousins play that game and we can talk to eachother! But recently, I've been getting some B's and C's and now my parents won't let me play that game anymore! They said that it distracts me from my studies but it DOESNT! My grade are only dropping because I was sick for one day and I couldn't catch up. I know I will do better next quarter and I keep telling them that but they WONT LISTEN!!! But I really like this game and I'm not addicted to it or anything but I mean my COUSINS go on this game and its cool to talk to them. So now I don't know what to do! Please tell me how to get them to let me play this game again???? No joking answers please...

Get Over It! Booooo Hoooooo.......now go have a cookie.
You might also want to stop using the word "LIKE" 14 times a second.

Well I do believe the game doesn't effect your grades, but what your parents are saying is that instead of playing that game you should have gone after school, or worked on catching up, now i dont agree with that but thats what they meant im sure. The best bet is to ask for a compromise, get an A on a test or sumthin and ask them if you can play for a little while since your grades are doing better, and as you keep getting your normal good grades, they will see its not the game it was just a slip up

OK, unless you're a first year law student at Harvard, being sick one day is not enough to fall behind. They've taken something you love because a) they're worried about your grades and b) they REALLY want to get your attention, and they feel like nothing else will work. I would suggest going to them and admitting that you've let your studies slide and telling them that you really regret allowing that to happen. Pile on something about how you knew something was up and you should've asked them for help, but you were afraid they'd *whatever*. Then ask for a compromise -- maybe time limits on how much you can play (X number of minutes/hours per day), or you can only play for so many days a week, or you can only play after you've completed your work, etc. Then tell them that if your grades don't improve, you'll stop playing for so many months or whatever -- offer them something they'll believe in.
It might also help if once every two weeks or so, you reached out to them by asking for help with something -- reviewing a paper you've written, etc. That should help them to feel closer to you and therefore more understanding of your game-loving perspective. Parents often feel like their teenagers are out-of-control strangers living in their house -- show them you're not a stranger and you are in control and I think that should help to alleviate their fears about your progress.

Get your grades up by showing initiative, try having your teachers write weekly notes showing you are working hard. As a parent my son has to take care of his responsibilities before he plays and it seems you did not do that. So show your parents your weekly progress and maybe you can get back on the game sooner. Good luck!

Lol that what my sister said. My parents let her play and she cant go above C. Online games are like the fastest, most effective way to bring down your grade. Dont do it. Its fun but its not worth it

Hey....I'd get your grades up...and then ask your parents to let you play the game...and then keep your grades up. If you do, then you can show your parents that it wasn't the game that lowered your grades and they might listen to you next time.

Talk to your parents. Ask them if you get your grades back up if you can play again. Or come up with some sort of compromise.

There's really no other way to make your parents believe you. Your just gonna have to show them that you can get your grades better. That's probably not the answer you want but that's the truth.

Maybe after you get your grades up next quarter you can convince your parents to let you play again.

My parents don't let me play runescape because it is an MMORPG, massive multiplayer online role playing game. Because I am able to chat, I cannot play on it. These are moments where you say "yes mom, yes dad" and move on. The best way to earn respect, and trust, is to listen to your parents.
