Panus is an inflammatory eye disorder in dogs. If you breed the dog with the disorder you may breed in the gene for the disease in the offspring. Double check with your vet and local breeders (specifically for your breed of dog). But it makes sense not to breed any animal with a congenital defect. He'll still make a great pet..

If you breed this dog you are only passing on this awful disease to other dogs and makeing the problems worse.
Only healthy dogs should ever be bred.
Why do you think hip displasia is such a problem?
If people only bred dogs with good hips it would not be a problem.

Panus is a noun referring to the amount of money placed for a bet. I don't think your dog has been to the track. Have a nice holiday and please stay in school.

My experience with pannus is that it is inherited -- it appears in some working lines in my breed.
It will eventually lead to blindness -- in my experience, the combinations of eyedrops only lasted so long before a sort of "immunity" developed and the Pannus crept back.
Miriam is right -- it is an idiopathic malfunction of the immune system...something you don't want to screw around with and pass on to puppies.

Since it seems to be related to a malfunction of the immune system, I would advise against it. However, it would be best to consult with your vet and other GSD breeders.

Pannus is an eye disease.
If this is something that is hereditary.... I wouldn't breed him. Why pass on health issues?!!!
