You will find people will have good attitudes and bad attitudes anywhere you go..Not just in New York, but Boston, Los Angeles, Houston,Chicago any large/busy cities where you live....and even not such large cities.....

Would going to work everyday knowing you had to be squashed on a subway car ( or sit in hours of traffic) enough to answer your question ??

New York is just a very stressful place to live.... that's why some people have bad attitudes and some can handle it better than others.......Many just don't like to admit they are so happy living in the Big Apple......

What makes you think New Yorkers have a bad attitude? I'm from California and visit Manhattan frequently for business and encounter more Californians with bad attitudes. When I worked in Manhattan, I found people to be exceptionally helpful and friendly. Women were even more approachable in NYC.

I am happy to say that your uninformed characterization of New Yorkers has so far, been unfounded. Now, I have to say that New Yorkers have a tendency to be very direct and that may be mistaken for bad attitudes. New York also is very fast-paced, congested, and busy so people are very focused, determined and decisive. That, being foreign to many, may elicit a response similar to yours.

Maybe because they just had a TERRORIST ATTACK on them and they lost so many of their people there(fathers, mothers, children, sisters, brothers). They had their town attacked which left a big hole in the city. They are doing amazingly well for what had happened there. It is almost surreal when you think about it.
geez, give them a break. How quickly some forget? did you go there and have a bad experience? bc that can happen in ANY town. The thing about NY pple.... I do know they are smart, honest, loyal and very strong. They operate their lives in an extremely busy place with a lot of people doing very important jobs. Think of that...do you want everyone to be skipping down the street all the time.

peace

most of us dont if you came to new york and ran into that then most likely some might have had a bad day. if you ran into that from someone who says there from new york then chances are there not REALLY from new york. they could have just perpetuated what they feel a nyer is or maybe there from somewhere upstate. most new york city goers dont really identify with people from say rochester or something like that.(well at least i dont) with that said we are gernally nice people unless we gotta put our defenses up. its jus how we were brought up. we have too many people to deal with on a regualr basis to not be tough once in a while

NYC was just voted the MOST FRIENDLY CITY. Based on how many people will hold the door open, say hello, help with directions.

Just because we walk by you fast on our way to work while you are looking at the pretty tall buildings, doesn't mean we are not friendly. You are in our town, learn our ways and do not judge us based on how you THINK we should act

Do you Know most New Yorkers? At least 100,000 because there are more than 3,000,000.

Your question is bias, negative, and have no merit because you addressed millions that you do not know, have no experience with and have never see.

i don't think most new yorkers have a bad attitude, it may just be how you come off to people, and they b'come rude or nasty b'cuz they percieve there is something wrong w/ you. i live in ga now, and please b'lieve southern hospitality is nothing compared to the kindness some people exibit in ny to complete strangers.
