I totally forgot to make the payment on a credit card. When I got my next bill it had the balance from the previous statement, a late fee and the new transactions. I paid the total balance as soon as I got the statement, and realized I forgot to pay the previous bill. Will this one late payment affect my credit rating?

I never carry a balance and pay the card off every month. This was a one time mistake.

You should probably look at the terms and conditions on the credit card but most of them will have a grace period of a sort where all you have to pay is the late fee.

It will lower your credit score if the cc company reported it to one of the 3 credit bureaus. Depending upon the company, they may not even report it. Just check your credit report in 30-60 days, that will be the best way to tell.

Credit cards are like sharks...they will use any excuse to raise your interest rate. It may take a few late payments to affect your credit score though.

Chase is one of the very worst. But chances are you are still in the 700s and can easily get another card. So call them, explain the mistake, calmly apologize for making the mistake, and request they remove it. And be sure to say if they don't within 45 days, you'll transfer all balance to another card and close the account. You are easily in a position to do it. And Chase usually does not have the best rates or terms.

Depends if they turned it into the credit agencies. I would call your credit card company and ask if they turned it in more than likely they didn't. You might want to check your interest rate on your bill. Most companies, even if you are late once raise your interest rate.

They will probably make a note but it shouldn't have any effect if you paid it off in full and do this regularly. Carry on as you have in the past and check your credit rating in about 3 months.

not always but it might effect your credit score. Mainly if you are late for 30 days from your payment due date then it effects your credit score. If you pay right away i really don't think it would effect your credit score.

Yes, unfortunately...however if its 15 days late its not really a big deal but if its 30 days or over they put it on your credit report. It sucks...I just found that out recently

If you forgot it once, I think it's OK, but if you keep on forgetting, your bank or credit card company might report it to one of those credit report companies.
