In this country if you dont' agree with the war you are seen as someone who is not proud to be an American, which to me is ridiculous. These soldiers are doing their "DUTY" because they signed their lives away to a government that pretends to care for them but doesn't take care of them when they come home!! I understand what you are saying as far as soldiers killing people, but at the same time I think they are brainwashed and don't realize what they have done until they come home...Truth hurts..sorry guys.

Honestly, I would suspect that the vast majority of americans don't have any thoughts about the Italian government at all. I'd be surprised if more than 10% of americans could even tell you who Burlusconi is.

If by here, you mean yahoo Q&A then there are lots of people here against the war. I'm not one of them.

I honestly don't know a whole lot about Burlusconi, so can't offer much insight, but he seems to be a good man, and good leader. I don't really have strong opinions about Italy either. I don't have any problems with Italy. In fact I may come visit there next year. I would be traveling mostly to religious sites, like the vatican. I would guess that the majority of americans have favorable view of Italy, but don't really know much about it. Italian food is very popular in the US, lol.

I don't mean to offend anyone, but my standard cookie cutter response to such questions is this:

The only thing that matters, is what is happening in America. If we don't take matters into our own hands, nothing ever gets done.

If we continually defer our power to the UN, or the international community each time a terrorist gets a wild hair up his butt, once again, nothing would ever get done.

If the greatest Superpower of all time, started to care what you think about this War on Terror instead of actually trying to win it, then we wouldn't continue to be as great as we are, oh yeah, and nothing would ever get done.

I mean you can see the pattern here right. You don't really matter, and we do, because we fight for freedom, and we punish oppressors, and you don't. So there!

Love Italy. Have relatives who are expat there and, of course, Italian culture is beyond compare. About, Berlusconi, I don't know much other than he's been Prime Minister for about 5 years and is one of the richest men in Italy starting up one of the 5 largest firms there (the Rupert Murdock of Italy). He's sort of like Mike Bloomberg in that regard (mayor of New York City). As for Iraq, I'm for it though there are many here who are not. I think the world is at risk from terrorism that is born in that region and this is a way of getting to it at its roots. But, as I said, there are many who disagree as well as many who don't.

In addition after your comment: Italy, though a beautiful and cultured country, doesn't have a great history of standing up for the rights of its citizens or taking a world position. The government crumbles every year or less and it swings from fascism to communism to democratic. You don't have respect for soldiers who serve and protect your way of life because of patriotism and love of country. It's the reason Europe fell to the Nazis and the reason the atrocities happened in the Balkans. Europe is a mess because of cowards who submit rather than fight for their way of life. I feel sorry for you.

to be honest, i'm fairly certain that sadly, americans don't care about italy, they're too engrossed with their own personal lives to even care about america

i'm sorry to come off as rude, but the truth hurts.

and about Iraq, i'm against it, (most of) the soilders are angry and depressed. people are hurting each other, and terrorists are highly aggressive.

I hate the whole thing, i support the soilders in health, but i am against the entire war

I like the country and have visted quite a few times. However, I have very little love for the Italian military and what they pulled with us in Somalia. People died because of their indiscretion there.

Love your food, your wine, your music, and the scenery. The war is another story. I don't support the war (nor do I agree with the way our government is running things), but I do support our troops.
