I'm not a guy, but I am a parent. I think they just want you to diversify.(ever hear the saying dont put all your eggs in one basket?) It is o.k. to spend considerable time with someone you care about, but dont shut out the rest of the world either. What if some day the girlfriend dumps you. You will have ignored everyone else for so long that they have moved on and you'll be left with nothing. Maybe they looking out for you so you don't get hurt. Parents dont always make sense to their kids till later on in years. Try to reach a middle ground with friends and girlfriend(s). Include other friends along with your girlfriend that way your parents are happy and so are you.

I'd consider it a kind of wakeup call, really. When someone is infatuated with someone else, it's often a kind of obsession to the exclusion of their friends and family, who may feel neglected. That's not healthy. A healthy relationship is one where you have time for your friends AND your girlfriend.
If my parents told me I was getting obsessed that way, I'd listen to them, the same way I would if they told me I was drinking too much or in the wrong in a fight with my girlfriend. They know me pretty well and they've got a lot more experience than me!

I would tell my parents how i really felt about my gf and that they cant change that. I would much rather spend time with my gf that my friends for the most part. Whenever my parents say ne thing about ne of my gf's, i tell them how i really feel
