I am pro Iraq war. Everyone thinks peace sounds good, but it is only good if one is willing to pay a price for it.
Since Oct 1983, we suffered dozens of attacks from Islamic terrorists. I was 7 months out of Marine corps boot camp when the barracks in Lebanon were bombed. For two decades, I had to watch Islamic fundamentalism build and build while we sat on the sidelines and study it academically.
I do think that If we had not reacted as we had to 911 and gone into Iraq, we would have surely been attacked again by now.
It is my hope that we get serious enough about the war on terror to actually fight it rather than merely 'poke it with a stick' as we are doing now.
We used to identify threats and squash them, especially when it came to third world dictators. But since Korea, Vietnam, Somalia, and most egregiously, Haiti, we lack the will to win.
Having the lack of will to win leads to longer, if not larger conflicts. Why has the Mideast simmered for decades when a two month, all out fight would end it forever. It is because we call the simmering pot 'peace' because we put no value on peace other than peace as an idea that feels good.

I'm against the Iraq war, because the USA has no business being there. The reason Pres. Bush declared war on Iraq was he was positive that Sadam Husein had Weapons of Mass Destruction in the country. Which turned out NOT to be true. Bush also thought that bin Lauden and Sadam were working together as tarriest. There was no connection found there either. By that time it was too late, we were in war. I think the conflict will last for some time yet. I also believe this war will be like another Viet Nam. The only "loosers" will be the ones that died in battle.

You are under the illusion that yours or my opinion has any relevance whatsoever.
The reality is, whether you are for or against, this war is winnable like all wars. However, until Americans begin to unify against terrorists, and start to demand Victory, instead of premature withdrawal, failure will be imminent. If not swiftly dealt with, this war will balloon into a conflict to be decided only by the international community and unfortunately perhaps by current and future generations.
Too many people, are looking at this war from an either/or perspective instead of the correct yes/and perspective. Either we pull all our troops home and close shop so as not to irritate the bad guys any further. Gosh knows I'd hate to see them when they really get mad. OR We fight the war with hardened troops who are committed to seeking Victory.
The answer is clear, that yes we Fight until we achieve Victory whatever the cost, and we continue to dominate as the World's only Superpower. After all, we are the only nation in existence that has proven fit to lead the world on an international stage.

Pro.
It was necessary after 9/11 to declare war on terrorism, which started the NY disaster, and we caught Saddam Hussein, didn't we?
I do think we could hurry it up a bit and have a larger-scale conflict to get it over with and bring our troops home. I am 100% behind the military, so I DO care for them, even though I am pro-war!
*thumbsup to WaronTerror!*

The iraq war can lead to more oil imports into the U.S. It may lead to larger conflict if matters right now are not solve and it continues to have all these problems but who will really know. I think the reason that we are in iraq right now is due to the oil consumption and Bush wanted to have a second term in president. But the truth is everything is an opinoin in politics and it is always changing. Sorry if my thoughts have affended u in any way.

First, Clinton said during his administration on several occasions that Saddam had WMD's and he needed to comply or face military action, so don't start in on the "Bush made it up" mantra. The entire intelligence world believed Iraq had WMD's, inlcuding the Clinton administration as they previously had them and to this date there is no record of them being destroyed. Furthermore, Saddam would not comply with UN sanctions for inspection.
PROS:
The terrorists are all distracted over in Iraq. We have not had an attack on US soil in over 5 years.
No, it won't lead to a larger conflict, however we need to accomplish victory in Iraq by establishing a legitimate government with the ability to control violence. Retreating would only embolden the enemy. If you are loosing a war, do you just retreat, give up and go home? NO, your enemies will follow you and fight until they've completed all of their objectives. Do we want to subject ourselves to the terrorists objectives? Of course not. You re-strategize and determine a new plan for victory.
CONS:
We need to be leary of creating more terrorists than we are killing. In the short run fighting them there keeps our soldiers fighting them, not our fire fighters. We need to establish a long term plan in Iraq and against terrorists in general.
Have we done everything right in Iraq? Of course not, but cutting and running would make a bad situation worse, regardless of if you think we should have gone or not. Of course we would have done things differently in hindsight, but unless we can go back, lets not bother arguing a moot point.

I want victory in Iraq. A free and secure Iraq may inspire others to topple other dictatorships. Dictatorships are what cause terrorism.
Bush has said all along that this is going to be a long, hard fight. It's worthwhile. How else can we end terrorism? Wishful thinking doesn't cut it.
More reasons to topple Saddam: He was a dictator, he brutalized his people, he used WMD's on his own people, there was every reason to believe he still had WMD's (I didn't want to assume there was no WMD's.), he'd attacked 4 neighboring countries for no good reason.
America is at war. Americans who grotesquely fail to support their nation at war are pretty much traitors.

I am against the war in Iraq, i see no good that has come out of it, and only countless young lives over or ruined. I do however support our military 100%. My husband being in the military makes me really stop and appreciate things a lot more. He has been to Iraq and is probably going again. You can be against the war and still support our troops. Merry christmas!

Benefits will be a safer U.S. and a safer world, even if the region is never entirely stable.
Yes, it will lead to a larger conflict all you have to do is read the independent news journals about Iran and Russia. Iraq and Afghanistan were only the tip of the iceberg as far as terrorism were concerned.
Terrorism, we needed to attack one of the major strongholds of the terrorist to show them that we meant business when we said we wouldn't be attacked and not retaliate. Iraq was one of them and was funded by many Palestinian and Europian nations.
